Mr. Ochoa-Puentes, of Honduras, Deported in 2010, Convicted Of Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder in Tennessee in 2016

Mr. Ochoa-Puentes, one of Mr. Obama's 'huddled masses yearning to breathe free', did this.

In August of 2015, Cheatham County Sheriff's Office Deputy William Zimmerlee attempted to pull over Nelson Ochoa-Puentes, 33, for a traffic-related stop near Highway 49 in Cheatham County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The TBI said Ochoa-Puentes failed to stop and led Zimmerlee on a car chase into Dickson County where he eventually stopped the vehicle on Bloom Landing Road. Ochoa-Puentes, according to the TBI, reportedly got out of the car and pulled out a gun and pointed it at Zimmerlee. The deputy fired at least one shot at Ochoa-Puentes, striking him in the hand.

The original charge was attempted first degree murder. However, Public Defender Jake Lockert made a successful motion to amend the charge to attempted second-degree murder. The Jury came back Monday night with a guilty verdict for the lesser charge.

He was deported in 2010, ya'll. Nearly murdered a police officer in Tennessee in 2015.

Welcome back to a civilized nation, where he will be sentenced, serve time, and then...

be deported!!

Not pardoned or handed a commutation.

It is worth noting that The Tennessean is now reporting the immigration status of illegal alien felons.
Timez iz changed, ya'll. Amazing what happens when the voters of Tennessee voter overwhelmingly for the GOP...even these libs finally have to take notice.

OS Has A Question: Who Are The Afghanis Captured By Border Patrol In South Texas, And What Pray Tell Were They Doing In McAllen?

The local newspaper article is very short on details, but the bare facts of the story are chilling enough.

McALLEN — U.S. Border Patrol officials confirmed three Afghan nationals were detained this week in the Rio Grande Valley.

Border Patrol confirmed the detentions, but would not say where or when they occurred.

Enrique Mendiola, assistant chief Border Patrol agent for the Rio Grande Valley sector, said "with the current decline in illegal cross border activity" human smugglers may see moving people besides Mexican nationals as a "business opportunity."

"Average smuggling rates for other-than-Mexican nationals far exceed those of Mexicans and Central and South Americans," he said in a statement.

Mendiola noted the Department of Homeland Security is working with governments in Central and South America to "identify and disrupt transnational smuggling organizations and routes, that sometimes can span the globe."

Federal court records showed no arrests involving anyone accused of smuggling Afghan nationals. No further information was available late Friday evening.

Hmmm....perhaps they were just poor innocent souls seeking a better life NorthOfTheBorder.  Isn't that the constant meme of The Left, explaining to us all ever so patiently why border security doesn't matter, illegal immigration is no problem?

Or, perhaps, they traveled here for some other reason.

How did they get into Mexico? Whose money was spent to get them halfway across the world? How many more are there, the ones who weren't captured?

Obama's Drunk Uncle Onyango Arrested In Boston: Why Was He In This Country In the First Place?

If we need a portrait-in-miniature of the Obama administration and its progressive homeboys, this is it.

From the Boston Herald:

President Obama’s accused drunken-driving uncle — who was busted after a near collision with a Framingham cop — has had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya, the Herald has learned.

The president’s 67-year-old uncle, Obama Onyango, has had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and Social Security number since at least 1992, said Registry of Motor Vehicles spokesman Michael Verseckes.

Onyango, whose sister, Zeituni Onyango, made headlines when it was revealed she was an illegal immigrant living in public housing in South Boston, was wobbly legged, “slurring” and had “red and glassy eyes” when he was pulled over at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Waverly Street in Framingham.

As someone who has witnessed (in his family) the expense and stress incurred by people who steadfastly adhere to immigration law in order to build their upright lives in this wonderful country, this episode is offensive beyond words. There is one law for my family members, and another for the ne'er-do-well illegals that constitute The One's extended family.

But beyond that, it demonstrates Obama's simple incompetence at solving simple problems. Uncle Onyango is a drunk, and he's not going to get sober. Fair enough. Most don't. He's also here illegally, and a deportation order has been issued.

A competent person in Obama's position concludes: Uncle Onyango will drink himself into oblivion wherever he lives. So, let's make sure he is quietly returned to Kenya. I (Obama) have some wealth, and the ability to get things done. Let's rent him a flat in a nice safe part of a city, where the local authorities can keep an eye on him (they can be bought, you know), and arrange for a modest monthly stipend to keep him fed, his booze supply plentiful, and the occasional hooker to keep him happy. In a few years, he'll be dead, and in the meantime, he'll just be another old drunk in Kenya.

Obama could do this on his own dime, not spending one penny of public or donor money. He could even buy the plane ticket-one way to Kinshasa.

This is what a competent President would do--outcome for Uncle would be essentially the same, but the law would be adhered to in the US, and Uncle could not possibly be a distraction or embarrassment fourteen months ahead of the election. A President has other fish to fry, like war and peace, the economy, etc. etc.

November 2012 cannot arrive soon enough.

Firm But Fair: Georgia Board Of Regents Sets A New Policy On Illegal Alien Students

As in: No, you can't enter our universities.

A final report presented today to the Board of Regents finds that only 501 undocumented students – all paying out-of-state tuition – are among the 310,000 students enrolled in University System of Georgia (USG) institutions this fall. While the numbers are small, beginning in fall 2011, all applicants will undergo new steps designed to strengthen the ability of USG institutions to properly classify students for tuition purposes.

These steps are outlined in four recommendations by the Residency Verification Committee approved today by the Board of Regents. They will go into effect for the fall 2011 semester. These include:

*The addition of language on all applications that outlines the legal penalties for “false swearing,” or knowingly providing incorrect information on the forms. USG officials indicate this will better educate individuals about the process of applying to college.
*The addition of language on all applications that, for the first time, will require applicants to state whether they are seeking in-state tuition. This will help institutions in making a decision on whether or not additional residency verification is necessary.
*A policy requirement that USG institutions verify the lawful presence in the United States of any applicant that is admitted. Students who note they are seeking in-state tuition will, if not applying for federal financial aid (which has its own stringent verification processes), be subject to additional verification by the institution.
*A policy that any person not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible for admission to any USG institution which, for the two most recent academic years, did not admit all academically qualified applicants.

“We are an educational agency in the business of preparing individuals for careers requiring knowledge and skills; we are not in the immigration business, nor are we equipped to serve as the immigration authorities,” said Regent James Jolly, who chaired the Residency Verification Committee. “However, these new policies do strengthen our ability to ensure proper tuition classification for all students – a process and a commitment the System has undertaken and met since being formed in 1931.”

No, 501 students out of 10K is not many, but one is too many. Even for a student paying the full load of fees, a state university education is heavily subsidized by the taxpayer. The taxpayers and voters make that decision--you know, citizens of the state.

The screams from the left have already begun, (see the comments at this article), and the lawsuits will fly, and the charges of racism will fill the air.

Here's hoping the Regents stand tall, have a good legal staff, and refuse to back down. It's time to finally begin to address the illegal immigration issue, one institution at a time, one state at a time, one county and township at a time. The Federal Government(under the administration of both parties) has abdicated its duty, while demanding control of the question. They can't have it both ways. Normal people like us have to live here with the consequences of their venality. Time to push back.

Lissen'-up, ya'll: Obama and His Home-boy Eric Holder, and their homeboys in all those 'public-interest-groups' can't sue everyone, everywhere, 24/7/365. Hell, let 'em try! Members of Congress who are pissed off about litigation against OldStateU back home (or whose constituents let them know how pissed off they are), won't be co-operatin' with no new 'Obama 2.0' proposals. OldStateU loyalists, and the citizen parents of citizen children who want to attend OldStateU won't be casting that vote for nobody even remotely associated with Himself and His Home-boy if they sue the board of  OldStateU, or the vo-tech in the next county.

And, likely, HisEminence and Home-boy won't be around to see the litigation through past January 2013, anyway. They be toast, all crispy and stuff...

Go git'em, ya'll! Go Dawgs!

The Wit And Wisdom Of Barack Obama's Auntie Zeituni

Ain't family jes' wonderful, ya'll? I mean, if you git to know some of the older folk, you understand why the younger folk are the way they are.

Fer example, our President, The Winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. Now, he hadn't actually done anything, like stop a war, to earn it. But that's ok, he had not a moment's pause in accepting it. After all, it's, well, Himself; and that's all you need to remember at a time like that. Understood?

Now, we find out his Auntie Zeituni has been a major influence upon Himself, and upon the course of modern history, from her free apartment in South Boston, collecting $700 a month from the gubbermint, and managing to pay for some expensive lawyering from Cleveland. All while living here as an illegal alien from Kenya.

She has given an interview to the local CBS affiliate in Boston, where she reminds us that she, by gum, is the real victim of the evil American system.

The quote of the day from Auntie Zeituni: "If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen."

Isn't family wonderful?

While We're Being Lectured By The Mexicans About Our Poor Treatment Of Illegal Aliens...

This little gift arrives on the door-step:

According to Mexico’s Center for Human Rights of Migrants (CNDH), Mexico operates on a double standard in regards to the treatment of undocumented migrants. In a communique issued from Cd. Juarez, the organization pointed out that while the Mexican government demands respect for their countrymen in the US, it violates the human rights of Central and South Americans in Mexico. In reference to the recent massacre of 72 people in Tamaulipas, what happened there is only a reflection of the vulnerability of migrants in Mexico. Just this past May, they point out, the United Nation’s Human Rights Council expressed surprise at the growing xenophobia, aggressions, tortures, anti-migrant laws and even murders suffered by undocumented Central and South Americans in their transit through Mexican territory.

One of the most serious problems facing migrants in Mexico today is kidnapping. The CNDH documented the kidnapping of 9,758 undocumented migrants in Mexico between September 2008 and February 2009, more than 1,600 per month. The report also warned that the kidnapping of migrants has become a common practice, usually unpunished and with acts of extreme cruelty, carried out as much by the authorities as by organized crime. The crime is very lucrative. In the total number of cases cited above, the take in those six months was approximately 25 million US dollars.

Did you catch that clause in the last line?

'...carried out as much by the authorities as by organized crime.'

'...carried out as much by the authorities as by organized crime.'

'...carried out as much by the authorities as by organized crime.'

And the Obama administration is pursuing Arizona instead of the Mexicans?

Local Arizona Sheriff Pleads For Troops, White House Assures Us All Is Under Control

View and compare these two bits of video, one from the local sheriff in Arizona who admits that law enforcement cannot contain the drug cartels, and the White House spokesman who all but calls Senator Kyl a liar, as he assures us everything is under control.

Whose words do you believe?

Sovereign Default Hall Of Shame: May I Have The Envelope?

(H/T to Mish, the one and only Chief Rabbi of Economics)

Mish points us to the latest Credit Default Swap quotes.

It's sort of like golf: The higher your score, the worse your situation.

So, drumroll puhleezzze, for the Sovereign Default Hall of Shame!

Venezuela
Greece
Argentina
Pakistan
Ukraine
Dubai/Emirate of
Iraq
Illinois/State of
Portugal
California/State of

Wait-a-minit-thar, bubbah! OS gots a question or toooh 'bout this heah' list!

Illinois ranks below Pakistan, Iraq, and Dubai? Two of those states are in war zones, and one of them is run by a profligate royal family.

Now, where izzit that The Winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize hails from?

Isn't that Illinois?

Didn't He serve in the state senate there and vote on spending bills that now have to be paid for?

And isn't that guy Chavez in Venezuela someone The One and his posse positively admire?

And isn't Argentina that country that wants to get another war underway over the Falkland Islands, with the active help of The Winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize and Miss Hillary?

And isn't California the place that keeps voting Democrat, and building the welfare state, and is overrun with Mexicans--and isn't that where Miss Nancy Pelosi hails from?

Aren't they trying to do to the country what they did to their states?

So, if these folks and their friends are the True and Only Path of Enlightenment for both the government and economy, how come anybody with a buck to invest in sovereign debt runs away from them?

Maybe they know that these folks always take societies and their economies over the cliff?

Senator John Kyl: 'They Want Something In Return Before They'll Do Their Duty'

It's 4:42 long, and is perhaps the clearest portrait yet of the mind and heart of The Winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize.

Obama and company are deliberately encouraging the chaos on the border in order to hold the country hostage. When Kyl tells his story, you don't hear indignation in the reaction, you hear that collective release of breath that says 'Oh, dear God in heaven, this is my worst fear confirmed...'

In one sector of Arizona, a 94% decrease in illegal immigration, just by employing the laws and policies already enacted. In the next sector over, a tidal wave of illegals, drugs and crime. And they know it, and refuse to act. Obama will let the blood flow until he gets his 'comprehensive immigration reform'. The bodies stack up on both sides of the border in the meantime.

'It's a nice little country ya got here, it would be a damn shame if it were ruined by illegals running it over. Hey Gino, hey Vito, tell this nice country what happens if we don't get active cooperation! We're just out to protect you, after all!'

This begins to put the Administration's response to the BP oil leak in perspective.

Actually, it puts all of their behavior in perspective, from Day 1.

Da' Chicago Way, in da' White House...

(The White House, of course, denies all, and calls Kyl a liar.)

Well, At Least This Hombre Will Have A Lot Of 'Splainin' To Do When (If) He Goes Home

Ok, in the meantime, someone 'splain this to OS:

From The Dickson (TN) Herald:

Dickson County agents from the Drug Interdiction Crime Enforcement unit seized more than $80,000 in cash they found stashed in the spare tire of a pickup truck on westbound Interstate 40 in Cheatham County Wednesday afternoon.

So far so good--but wait, there's more!

According to Dickson County Sheriff Tom Wall, the D.I.C.E. unit, which also has a trained K-9 officer, was patrolling the interstate just after noon when agents stopped the truck for a moving violation on the interstate. Wall said the dog, Paco, hit on the rear of the truck, leading agents to the cash.

The agents found the spare tire, located underneath the truck bed, and used a density meter to determine if something was in the tire. The meter read positive, he said. Agents also discovered a slit in the sidewall of the spare tire. When one of the agents slid his hand into the slit he “felt something plastic.”

Two black trash bags were pulled out of the tire and the money was seized. Wall said some of the cash was wrapped in the bundles and there was also loose cash.

Well done, Paco! Good dog! Could it be this is drug related?

In addition, a swab test was taken on the spare tire and tested positive for cocaine residue.

Yes, indeedy! OS is shocked, positively shocked to read that this might related to the drug trade. After all, he carries 80k in his truck's spare tire on a regular basis....

But wait, there's more!

Agents said the driver appeared nervous when he was stopped and there appeared to be “a lot of new items” in the truck, as if he’d been “on a shopping spree.” Items included clothes, electronic equipment and items for an infant.

They said the driver also displayed “other indicators” and produced a Mexican driver’s license. The driver was questioned and denied any knowledge of the money being in the tire. He told authorities he was headed home from Ohio to Texas after visiting family in Cincinnatti for the past several days. He also said he’d only purchased the late ‘90s Ford Ranger pickup truck a couple of months ago, the sheriff said.

The DICE unit will seek a forfeiture warrant for the money but the pickup was in poor condition and it was not seized.

The driver was released and the cash was taken to the D.I.C.E. office.

What?  This whole incident screams 'illegal alien muling cash back to Mexico', and the local cops send him on his merry way...

Now, departing some 80k lighter on his way home, he'll have some 'splainin'-to-do-Lucy' to the 'gentlemen' who'll expect their money from him.

Lucy, 'splain-this-to-me, por favor...

Ray Stevens Says It All: Come To The USA

The Arizona Illegal Immigration Bill: Read It For Yourself

Here's a reasonable idea to help you sort out fact from fiction in the chaos that has erupted over Arizona's decision to deal with illegal immigration, which the Federal government has refused to do.

Read the bill.

This links you to the Arizona Secretary of State site. Halfway down the list, you'll see the link to CH_113. Click it, and the pdf of the bill as passed and signed will download to you.

Read the bill, and think it over for yourself.  Unlike the incomprehensible verbiage we are treated to by bills passed in Congress, this is written in clear English, carefully avoiding nuance. The Arizona legislature, unlike Congress, knew the content and intent of the bill, as a responsible legislative body does. This may explain the rage directed at them by the left side of Congress, born of humiliation.

OS has gone through it once, plans to do it a few more times. At no point does it authorize any agent of law enforcement to detain any person just because they are brown of skin. Furthermore, Governor Brewer signed amendments to clarify the bill's intent. No authorization of mass deportations. No authorization of inhumane treatment of persons detained. No double-talk. Very little 'legal-ese'.

Basic, understandable English.

Read the bill, and decide for yourself.

But, as a starter, here's just the first bit of it--plain English, no spin here:

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Intent

The legislature finds that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of Arizona. The legislature declares that the intent of this act is to make attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona. The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States.

Could it be, at the end of the day, that the real objection by Our Beloved Leader and the Left is to the intent of the bill: '...to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States.'?

At the end of the day, neither Obama, nor Bush the Second, nor Clinton, nor Bush the First embrace(d) the idea of enforcing our borders. The assertion that immigration enforcement is a Federal prerogative is simply a means of avoiding responsibility, not embracing it.

This whole mess is not about race. It is about the Constitution and the rule of law. The Federal government has despised both the Constitution and the rule of law, and now has a grassfire on its hands.

The only sense of surprise felt here is that it took so long to get started.

Chin-straps on. Watch for other legislatures to pass similar measures.

It is unfortunate that it has come to this, and there is definitely a human side to this story. Were OS of Hispanic heritage, he would be certain to always carry his driving license, just to be certain. He might even avoid Arizona for a while, just to be doubly certain, while things settle down.

But, give the bill three to five years to work, and it won't be an issue, 'cuz the problem will be greatly alleviated. If enough states follow suit, the solution will arrive more quickly.

Final story: A few years back, Mr. and Mrs. OS spent a fabulous vacation in Canada.

When we arrived at the border in our car, we waited in line, presented passports and title to the car. We were questioned by firm-but-friendly border control officers about where we were traveling, what we were transporting, and when we planned to return home. When changing money, every teller in every bank followed the same script: 'Passport please. When did you arrive? Where are you visiting? When do you plan to depart?' Polite, but firm.

And it was all perfectly fine, 'cuz it's their country, and we were guests visiting there.

We had a wonderful visit, and we came home, where we belong. Where we work, and live, and hold our citizenship. Our country.

'Nuff said?

The State of Arizona Locates Its Spine: Illegal Immigration Is To Be Enforced By The State

Finally. About time. After heaven knows how many murders, kidnappings, shootings, tons of drugs and tens of thousands of illegal aliens invading Arizona for decades, the legislature and governor come to the obvious conclusion: The Federal Government is not interested in controlling the southern border of the United States. They have abdicated their responsibility, and care not a whit for the widows and orphans that litter the landscape because of unchecked illegal immigration.

And, it not just the Obama administration!! G.W. Bush acted like a man who had long ago been bought off by someone somewhere when it came to this issue. We all have to take our shoes off, be subject to searches, etc., etc., in the name of national security, and Bush refused to take action on the border, until he was forced into it. When he attempted to get an amnesty bill passed in the dark of night over Memorial Day 2007, he alienated the final loyalists of the Republican Party, and damn near destroyed it.

So, finally, Arizona takes back its Constitional prerogative.

OS has just one further word to add:  YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!

And this incident, which dates from today, gives insight into why Arizona is so long overdue.

Now, let's see how the Obama administration and its 'political organizing' minions go on the attack. Expect a flood of Federal civil-rights lawsuits, Federal prosecutions of local deputies, attempts to vacate the law in the Federal courts. If Arizona succeeds in asserting its Constitutional rights, Obama knows the floodgates will open against him, state by state, issue by issue.

It's not about immigration. It's about the rule of law, the Constitution, and who gets to rule.

OS is cheering for the states.
