Bebe's Visit, This Time

It is a busy day, but OS wishes to note progress, however incremental in the process of raising LittleBarry and getting him to put on his big-boy pants.

When Netanyahu visited the first time, in 2009, TheWinnerOfTheNobelPeacePrize wouldn't have lunch with the man, and sent him and his party out the back door of the White House, where the refuse dumpsters reside.

This time, since there is an election coming up, and everything Bebe has said about the Iranians has proven to be true, Himself has changed his public tune a bit, even allowing public photo with a handshake.

We should not, however, even consider this a change of heart, or an acknowledgment of the realities of the situation in that part of the world. That would require a President who is not an anti-Semite, and has a semblance of good judgment.

That guy is either Romney or Gingrich, at this point, and still almost a year away from the next inauguration.

Fassen' yer seat belts, ya'll. This flight could git all choppy on us.

Planet Gore Asks Mr. Obama re Keystone Pipeline: Which Side Are You On?

Well, at the least, it's not just OS asking why Obama seems to be siding with those who wish to see the West destroyed.

At a time when the need for action to deal with the threat of the Iranian nuclear bomb program demands that the government do everything in its power to assure supplies of liquid fuel from non-mideast sources, the Obama administration is doing the exact opposite.
Instead of seeking to create energy security, it is maximizing our energy vulnerability.
Instead of seeking to reduce oil prices, it is acting to increase them.
Instead of seeking to expand our economy, it is acting to contract it.
Instead of seeking to stop the Iranian nuclear bomb program, it is acting to protect it and help fund it.
Instead of seeking to strengthen America and weaken our enemies, it is acting to weaken America and strengthen our enemies.
The question that needs to be put to the Obama administration is this: Which side are you on?

November cannot come quickly enough.

Photographic Evidence of Obama Marching With The new Black Panthers in 2007: How Can This Be Explained Away?

Breitbart posted it today.

The NBPP is virulently anti-Semitic (always a bad sign). Had any GOP candidate marched with a KKK rally...think of the outraged reactions from near and far.

Hit the link and decide for yourself.

How is this explained away?

In Normal Times, A Democrat President Would Be Campaigning In NY 09 Today...

...but these are not normal times.

Anthony TheWeiner was a stalwart warrior of the Left, and of all things Obama. His (polite cough) very public downfall would not normally deter a President like Obama from sending in his operatives, and making a last-minute public appearance on behalf of the Democrat standing for election.

It's like...well...they're pretending this by-election isn't taking place today. And Welprin, the Democrat candidate, is pretending Obama doesn't exist. Like the last thing he'd want is a visit from The Beloved Leader on the eve of the election. Not normal times.

Obama was in Ohio, getting a crowd of high-school students and teachers to chant 'Pass this bill! Pass this bill!' Only MSNBC, all-Obama-all-the-time, even bothered to carry the event live. CNN was discussing fashion trends. This morning, his staff was blustering 'It's all or nothing!', and by the afternoon the view was, 'Well, if they want to pass it piecemeal, he'll sign the portions they send his way.'

Not normal times, not at all. NY 09 may well fall into GOP hands tonight. OS will be interested to see if the White House even makes mention of the occurrence in the morning.

Barack Obama, Winner Of The Nobel Peace Prize, On The Subject Of Civility In Public Discourse

Really, ya'll, he spoke these words a few months ago:

"At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do," the President said at the time, "it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds," he said.

Not a peep in the wake of Hoffa's hectoring of the crowd, telling them to '...take these sons-of-bitches out!', referring to members of the Tea Party.

OS concludes the rules must change when it gets to be election season, at least for Obama.

Obama's Drunk Uncle Onyango Arrested In Boston: Why Was He In This Country In the First Place?

If we need a portrait-in-miniature of the Obama administration and its progressive homeboys, this is it.

From the Boston Herald:

President Obama’s accused drunken-driving uncle — who was busted after a near collision with a Framingham cop — has had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya, the Herald has learned.

The president’s 67-year-old uncle, Obama Onyango, has had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and Social Security number since at least 1992, said Registry of Motor Vehicles spokesman Michael Verseckes.

Onyango, whose sister, Zeituni Onyango, made headlines when it was revealed she was an illegal immigrant living in public housing in South Boston, was wobbly legged, “slurring” and had “red and glassy eyes” when he was pulled over at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Waverly Street in Framingham.

As someone who has witnessed (in his family) the expense and stress incurred by people who steadfastly adhere to immigration law in order to build their upright lives in this wonderful country, this episode is offensive beyond words. There is one law for my family members, and another for the ne'er-do-well illegals that constitute The One's extended family.

But beyond that, it demonstrates Obama's simple incompetence at solving simple problems. Uncle Onyango is a drunk, and he's not going to get sober. Fair enough. Most don't. He's also here illegally, and a deportation order has been issued.

A competent person in Obama's position concludes: Uncle Onyango will drink himself into oblivion wherever he lives. So, let's make sure he is quietly returned to Kenya. I (Obama) have some wealth, and the ability to get things done. Let's rent him a flat in a nice safe part of a city, where the local authorities can keep an eye on him (they can be bought, you know), and arrange for a modest monthly stipend to keep him fed, his booze supply plentiful, and the occasional hooker to keep him happy. In a few years, he'll be dead, and in the meantime, he'll just be another old drunk in Kenya.

Obama could do this on his own dime, not spending one penny of public or donor money. He could even buy the plane ticket-one way to Kinshasa.

This is what a competent President would do--outcome for Uncle would be essentially the same, but the law would be adhered to in the US, and Uncle could not possibly be a distraction or embarrassment fourteen months ahead of the election. A President has other fish to fry, like war and peace, the economy, etc. etc.

November 2012 cannot arrive soon enough.

That Worked Out Well, Did It Not?: The Obama Effect

Back in 2008, every time Henry Paulson appeared on TV to 'calm the markets', the markets would begin to tank ever more precipitously. OS privately called it 'The Paulson Effect', and was too naive to short the market. (Now no longer...)

Obama has assumed Paulson's mantle. As soon as he read his teleprompter remarks, and stalked out like the petulant child he is, the selling began in earnest.

OS went back to his work, and listened to Bach. He checked in again shortly after the markets closed, and spontaneously exclaimed an expletive he will refrain from repeating in print.

Just for the record, the Dow closed down 634.76 points, the S&P down 79.92, gold broke an all-time high, and silver is retracing to its earlier highs.

OS's liberal friends want to blame it all on the Tea Party, and ignore that the Dems were routed last November.

He gently reminds them that any country with over 50 trillion of unfunded obligations, and borrows .40 over every dollar it currently spends, is on the path to tragedy.

Not even the Fed can stop this sell-off. We've all learned too much, and are less susceptible to being stampeded, since 2008. The markets, both in equities and bonds, have a long way to go to align themselves with reality. OS thinks reality is Dow 7500 and S&P 600.

Disclosures: Short the S&P, long gold, long silver. Paying debts off as quickly as his little fingers can write checks, and has been for quite a while now. Looking to plant gardens and install livestock on his acreage for next spring. Renewing his hunting license.

Quote Of The Day From A Former Obama Supporter

OldSouth, following his morning walk (under orders to lose weight, grumble, grumble), tossed his sweaty clothes into the washer, failing to remove his mobile phone.

In case any of his readers are curious on the subject, mobile phones do not respond well to washing machines.

So, off to the mobile phone store he goes, to pick up a replacement, whilst removing egg from his grizzled face. He got a lunch with the saintly Mrs. OS out of the deal, so all was not lost.

A SweetYoungThing expertly got him situated, and while his new phone was being activated, OS overheard a conversation between a couple in their 70's and the next sales rep down the counter. It was good-natured, but it was easy to tell these folks were old-school-from-the-country folks. At one point, in deciding what to purchase, and how to pay, the wife blurted out jokingly 'I'll have to make sure Mr. Obama sent me my Social Security check!'. It was a giggle for everyone.

A minute or so later, she sidles up to OS and remarks, 'You know, I voted for Obama last time!' OS inquires, 'Are you happy with that decision, ma'am?'

Her answer: 'Is anyone?'

Heaven bless her, she gets it. Here's hoping the GOP gives her a candidate worth leaving the house to vote for.

The President Hits The Links, And His Detractors Go Nuts

OK, he went out for a round of golf on Saturday afternoon.

OS is no fan of this guy, and sincerely hope the electorate will send him on his way about eighteen month from now.

But, please...

Gadafi is going to slaughter his citizens, whether WinnerOfTheNobelPeacePrize is in the situation room watching it unfold live or not. That North African despot been at it for decades now, by the way, and has gotten really good at it. The fleet's in the Med, and the admiral has his orders. For today, that is what anyone can do.

Maybe, even Himself (and we) might benefit from four hours outside, with little to think about except advancing that little white ball toward the little hole.

OS has a gentle suggestion for all those who are apoplectic about Himself hitting the links: Take up the game yourself, and allow yourself the relief and joy of walking the golf course. The world really will be there when you head home, probably not much deteriorated from when you teed off, and you'll likely be in better shape to address your corner of it.

Just sayin'...

Obama At Halftime: Bill Whittle

Too good not to share, but at the same time, OS is grateful that Obama did not manage to succeed. Still, he deserves the scorn heaped upon him for being such an utter egotist as to present himself as a secular saviour.

John Boehner, by contrast, took pains to emphasize his mortality as he took the Speaker's gavel. Let the MSM mock him all they wish for occasionally weeping in public. They have Obama hung around their necks for the remainder of their lives.

QE2: Central Banks Around The World Begin Quietly Heading For The Exits

It had to happen, sooner or later.

It is evident, with the wholesale printing of money by the Fed, Harry Reid's attempt to bend the culture over the table with a 2000 page omnibus spending bill, and all those WikiLeaks cables circulating: There are no grownups in charge in Washington.

Yet.

So, our creditors are beginning to do what all prudent investors do: Get out of town while they can.

All that hot cash gotta land somewhere. Oil/gas/gold/silver/soybean/wheat/rice price spikes, anyone?

Thanks, Barry.

Thanks, Ben.

Thanks, Congress.

Bloomberg Poll On National Sentiment: Obama Does Not Fare Well

That Hope-n-Change magic has definitely worn off.

From Bloomberg, yesterday:

More than 50 percent of Americans say they are worse off now than they were two years ago when President Barack Obama took office, and two-thirds believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, a Bloomberg National Poll shows.

The survey, conducted Dec. 4-7, finds that 51 percent of respondents think their situation has deteriorated, compared with 35 percent who say they’re doing better. The balance isn’t sure. Americans have grown more downbeat about the country’s future in just the last couple of months, the poll shows. The pessimism cuts across political parties and age groups, and is common to both sexes.

In fairness, the article notes Reagan's low poll numbers at the same point of his first term.

But, this is different. Reagan did not go to war on the Constitution and the culture, and the streets did not fill with middle-class people begging for a return to the rule of law. He remained cheerful and decisive, even when the news was grim, and was guided by his love of country, not his loyalty to ideology.

He had also had four successful careers by the time he entered office, in the movies, in public relations, in TV, and as governor of California. He knew something about life, and how to work with people.

This, sadly, is a different day.

Public Policy Polling Tells The Story In A Nutshell: It's About Obama, Ya'll

Firms like PPP stay in business by telling the truth to their clients, not by telling them what they want to hear.

PPP's sympathies are with the Democrats, but in the end, they gotta publish accurate numbers, or there is no tomorrow.

PPP has some bad news to share with Democrats, and it's about Himself. The OneWeWereWaitingFor, TheWinnerOfTheNobelPeacePrize, Himself.

If this election is a referendum on Barack Obama then o boy are Democrats in trouble. In our final round of 18 polls we found the President with a positive approval rating among likely voters in only 1 state- Connecticut. Even there only 46% of voters expressed support for the job he's doing. He's slightly under water in some of the bluest states out there- California, Washington, even his home state of Illinois.

And the bad news for Democratic candidates across the country is that we found very few voters disapproving of Obama who were willing to then turn around and vote for Democratic candidates. Joe Manchin was an exception but for the most part no Democrats were getting more than 5-10% of the vote from people who disapproved of Obama. There's a lot of good Democrats tonight- both incumbents and challengers- who are going to lose and it won't be because of anything they did wrong. It's just hard to overcome an incumbent President of your party being so unpopular with the people most motivated to vote.

People really don't like him, or the job he's done. They sense his disdain of them, and have felt its lash, as their jobs and businesses melted away, as they watched Him spend and spend and spend, promise and promise and promise, fail and fail and fail, and blame anybody anywhere but His own folly when the wheels began to come off. And they plan to express their opinion about Him.

The spin line 'It's really not about Obama' just won't wash. He Himself made the whole question about life in these United States about Him, believing in his own infallibility, that He was indispensable, the ManWhomHistoryCalledToThisMoment

History has other moments, as well.

And The Spin Will Be...'We're Not Worried!'

It's becoming obvious, even overseas, that Himself is in deep doo-doo. The One, having declared The Summer of Recovery, arrives to the fall with nothing of the sort, outside of a DOW average that feels eerily pumped up.

The November 2 election is now three weeks away.

We can now expect the spin to begin, well ahead of time. It will go like this:

Well, the opposition always picks up seats in the mid-term. We're not worried.

Well, the public has been seduced by Fox News (or Rush, or Savage, or foreign influences on the Chamber of Commerce), but we're not worried. We'll forge ahead with our vision of a new America in the lame-duck session. The public really believes in us, and will come to love us by January. We're not worried.

Well, the stimulus was too small, and that's the fault of all those Republicans. We're not worried.

Well, the Great Recovery Program just hasn't had time to take hold, and all those out-of-work and impoverished voters just don't understand what a good thing we've done for them. We're not worried.

Things really aren't that bad, people are just hysterical. We're not worried.

People aren't expressing their unhappiness with Obama, but rather about the economy, which of course is Bush's fault. They love the President, so we're not worried.

It's really George Bush's fault. All of it, except for any good news. That's our doing. We're not worried.

It's the fault of the racists. Anyone who disagrees with Himself has a white-sheet outfit hung in the closet. We're not worried.

The Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize knows best. He's the most brilliant man to ever occupy the office. Just ask Oprah. She's not worried.

Besides, John Boehner actually smokes cigarettes! What sort of idiot is that? We're not worried.

What's that you say? Obama smokes? Well, maybe, but he only smokes organically-grown fair trade tobacco. So that's OK. We're not worried, and you are a paranoid racist for even bringing the subject up. You are the one who should worry, since we know who you are.

It's Joe Biden's fault, and we'll throw him under the bus November 3. Human sacrifice does appease the gods, we understand. We're not worried.

On and on it will go. It's begun already.

Chin-straps on, ya'll.

Well, Cut My Legs Off And Call Me Shorty: Obama Actually Vetoed HR 3808

...which would have given the banksters free reign to continue their fraudulent practices in the mortgage markets.

The memo is here.

The memorandum is both civil in tone and unequivocal in meaning. That's a first for any Democrat politician for decades. Remember, Bill (It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is.) Clinton is a major hero to these folks.

Had Obama signed it into law, heaven only knows what may have resulted. Thanks to people like Karl Denninger who raise holy hell about this stuff on a daily basis.

Perhaps Failure Is The Goal, After All

The idea keeps floating about that Obama, and those around him, actually want the culture to fall apart, to allow them to impose their own vision upon us.

OS has read it, heard it, and until recently, discarded it. 'Naaaahhhhh--that's paranoid ranting, tin-foil-hat stuff, etc.' OS just assumed these guys were idiots, blind and deaf to the actual consequences of their behavior.

Maybe, OS was wrong.

It's a story not worth telling in detail, but once upon a time, OS launched a business that had every reason to succeed, and yet failed. He made a crucial error, in bringing a member of ownership aboard who came recommended as someone with some 'special expertise' in the field. OS ignored a warning about the guy from someone who knew him from another context.

It didn't take long to see the error of his ways, as his 'mistake' proceeded to create chaos at every turn, in ways large and small. Only with the perspective of time did OS come to understand that his colleague's agenda was to either take over or destroy the business. In the end, he did both. It was baffling at the time, because the behavior made no sense, and it didn't occur to OS to consider that only the darkest of motivations explained the chaos being created.

Perhaps, just perhaps, this is being played out on a much larger stage, and for much higher stakes. OS hopes this is not the case.

In any case, these guys must be voted out at the earliest opportunity.

Now, There's A Fine How-dya-do!: Today's 'Meet The Press'

So, OS is about to head to breakfast for Conference Day 2, and has the local NBC affiliate on the hotel room.

Wrapping up the hour, and the hostess announces: And now, looking ahead, David Gregory on Meet The Press will explore the question-'Have Americans lost faith in President Obama to lead the country out of this depression? David Axelrod joins him, etc....'

Hello? That's NBC, the Kool-Aid Network, using the dreaded 'D-word' in the same sentence referring to The Anointed One. It wasn't ad-libbed, either--the young lady was reading copy.

OS had a momentary vision of rats fleeing a sinking ship.

A quick walk around the block of this hotel in Yew Nork tends to confirm the use of that word, by the way. The present decay makes the former greatness of the place so very poignant.
