Radical Islam Harvests One More Victim...

This young man from Alabama listened to the siren song of Islamic fundamentalism, and ended up dying in a shoot-out with estranged members of his sect.

Multi-lingual, obviously bright and ambitious--what might have become of his life had he not made those tragic choices.

Some will crow 'good riddance', etc. etc. etc.

OS, as the parent of children about this young man's age, finds himself grieving the loss of a life that might have been.

Anjem Choudary Espouses The Religion Of Peace

Really, ya'll....why should we give a thought about all those good-hearted Muslims?

Why they're just like us.  Really!

Check this video out. It was recorded secretly, the speaker being an imam residing in Britain.

He is sooo charming, winsome and gracious. It'll just take your breath away.

Honest!

Gates Of Vienna: Why We Fight Reason #4558

The authors of Gates of Vienna have been conducting their lonely war against the encroachment of Islam upon the West, recognizing that our survival is at stake, that their intentions toward us are not at all benign.

Today's post, linked above, is a jewel. It reminds us all, each engaged in little bit of The War For The West, of why it matters that we get up every morning, and do what we do in our worlds.

Even if, by some miracle, militant Islam were to evaporate from the face of the earth by lunchtime today, we still face massive challenges flowing from the erosion of our culture from within. OS believes that had we been paying attention all along, and not stood by while the ground eroded from under our feet, that bad actors like Islamists, Chavistas, various Fascists, President Teleprompter and the left side of the Democrat Party (who will rescue TheWeiner, by the way) would not have smelled blood in the water and circled 'round.

So, enjoy the link. Lace up 'yer boots. It's another day.

Remember The Mantra: Israel Bad/Hamas Good, Israel Bad/Hamas Good,Israel Bad/Hamas Good--(keep going until you believe it...)

GAZA (Reuters) – Hamas found the body Friday of a pro-Palestinian Italian activist who was killed by al Qaeda sympathizers in the Gaza Strip, raising questions about Hamas's control over the beleaguered enclave. Two men were arrested and others were being sought for the abduction and killing of Vittorio Arrigoni, 36, who was found strangled in an abandoned house Friday, Hamas officials said.

A group of strict Islamists aligned with al Qaeda, known as Salafists, had threatened Thursday to execute Arrigoni unless their leader, detained by Hamas last month, was freed.

It was an unprecedented challenge for Hamas, an Islamist group whose diehard hostility to Israel has deepened the isolation and poverty of Gaza, home to 1.5 million Palestinians.

"Gaza is safe and I want to assure all visitors to Gaza that they are safe and secure," Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas prime minister, told a French journalist.

"The crime that took place was an isolated incident ... and we will enforce the law against the perpetrators."

Hamas vehemently opposes the Salafists who espouse a more extreme form of Islam and appear to be attracting recruits -- including from among its own ranks.

Salafists see Hamas as insufficiently zealous, have attacked Internet cafes and want Christians expelled. They deplore Hamas for considering ceasefires with Israel and exploring political accommodation with secular Palestinian rivals.

And, from Donald Sensing, a story with video just too horrifying to describe...

OK, Let's Go Over This Question Again, Slowly, So Even Fundamentalists Can Understand It

Burning books is a reprehensible thing to do, even if you are convinced the books you are burning are reprehensible. OldSouth has been over this with ya'll once already.

OS, like so many, was cradle-born Southern Baptist (No longer, but still a conservative Protestant. Another story, another day perhaps.) What that meant was, that every child learned his Bible, front to back. We had Sword Drill on Sunday nights, when the teacher would call a chapter and verse and we little ones would scurry to find the passage first in our copies of the King James Bible (which, of course, was the one written by the Almighty Himself, for the benefit of all English-speaking and right-thinking people everywhere). We knew that book cold, and OS is forever grateful to all those adults who gave so much of their time and energy to make certain that happened.

Never, not once, does the Good Book ever endorse burning books. Golden calves, yes. The Prophets of Baal fared pretty badly at the hands of Elijah on Mount Horeb if memory serves. Our Lord, in his days upon earth, did have his words eventually recorded by his followers. There's a good bit of overlap in the three Synoptic Gospels (Matthew/Mark/Luke), and nope, not one endorsement of burning books one takes offense at. The Master directed his most acid words at bankers, lawyers, and fundamentalist legalistic nutter clergy types--the type who prey upon the emotions, hopes and finances of humble people. In the end, they got together to perform judicial murder upon Him, proving His point in the process.

This last week, against all sane advice, it appears a nutter preacher in Florida staged a Koran barbecue. In America, that's protected Free Speech. Black-letter law, no argument about it. In Afghanistan, some other nutter decided the response to that should be to stage a suicide bombing, and kill a bunch of UN aid workers. That's murder, and unspeakable tragedy.

And there is no excuse for it. Period. Even if the Florida nutter incinerates a thousand Korans. It's ink on paper, just like those KJV's we used in Sword Drill in that Breeko-block little church. The content matters, not the newsprint.

But what OS wishes to repeat, for all who might read, is this: The Florida nutter is exercising his American right to Free Speech. That doesn't make him a Christian, and what he did was not a Christian act, in any possible definition of the word. It was done to draw attention to himself, to piss people off, to create headlines and controversy. Our Lord did not behave that way, except on one occasion, for very specific reason, and never out of malice. He did not endorse that method of operating in the world, nor did any of his immediate circle, when it came time for them to write down their accounts.

The nutter set a tragic chain of events into motion, giving another nutter an insane pretext to commit a foul act of mass murder. Florida Nutter did not 'cause' Afghan Nutter to commit murder, but he certainly helped set the stage.

Whatever this nutter in Florida is, he is not Christian. This is not the practice of Christianity. He is a heretic, plain and simple.

And a nutter. (Did OS mention that already?)

And heresy always, in the end, breeds tragedy.

Egypt, From Tennessee

OS has a huge week ahead of him, so will be very sporadic in his ruminations for his legions of readers...

What Egypt looks like from here, through the glimpses seen via Al-Jazeera, CNN, the papers, etc., is:

These kids in the street don't look like Islamic fundies. They look like really frustrated young people with educations, ambitions, and nowhere to use them. All they've known is this old horse's ass in charge their entire lives, propped up by the US, the UK, and Europe, corrupt to the core, with his boot on the neck of the culture.

They also have access to the outside world and one another via satellite TV, internet, mobile devices, Twitter, etc. etc., and they don't for a minute buy the official line from anybody. They know there's a better life out there, and that freedom is the cure to the problem. They just don't know how to get from where they are to where they want to be. But in the meantime, burning down the offices of the official state party looks like a good place to begin.

They hate the United States, the UK, and Europe for propping up the old horse's ass, 'cuz they know that each barrel of oil transiting the Suez Canal means infinitely more to those places that the quality of any normal person's life in Egypt. OS thinks his country has failed the morality test by refusing to develop its own reserves of oil, coal, gas, and nuclear, thus ending the dependence on oil coming through that canal. Our self-righteous insistence on pristine wilderness above the Arctic Circle is paid for by the young unemployed in places like Cairo and Alexandria.

Shame on us. We know better, and refuse to act on what we know. It is unsurprising to see the Stars and Stripes set ablaze in the streets of Cairo.

Upsetting, yes. Surprising, no.

Religious crazies can appeal to such people, by creating a sense of communal persecution, the prospect of participating in the delivery of divine righteous wrath upon the guilty, and offering the hope of some sort of KingdomOfGodOnEarth with which to replace the current situation. Sane people know that these three items are lies by which unhappy people are seduced, but it looks like a lot of these young people have run out of patience, and think the insane people are the ones running the government, especially the 82-year-old horse's ass.

Here's hoping, here's hoping, here's hoping that they will not listen to the siren song of Islamic fundamentalism, and will insist instead on a government that allows them to live their lives, pursue their dreams for themselves and their families, knows how to hand over power peacefully, and otherwise leaves them the hell alone.

Here's hoping, from Tennessee.

Burning Books Is Reprehensible, Even If You Think The Books Are Reprehensible

General Petraeus is a sober soul. He makes decisions every day that may determine the life expectancy of many people in his care.

He thinks that the proposed public burning of the Koran by the Rev. Mr. Jones, head of the 50-member Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., is not an act of a sober person.

He's right. His public statement is mild and measured, but unmistakable. And deserves to be republished over and over again in the next few days.

Again, OS is a devoted conservative Christian, and no fan of Islam. But, whatever Mr. Jones may be doing at his 50-member Dove World Outreach Center, he is not, repeat is not, practicing any recognizable form of Christianity. This sort of whack-job nonsense treads all over the Fourth Commandment--the one about not taking the name of the Lord in vain, or as one more modern translation puts it, not misusing the name of the Lord.

Then there is response of our Lord when queried about the Greatest Commandment. His response: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and strength. And then he said, 'The second is like unto it--love your neighbor as yourself.'

Not a hint anywhere about burning anybody's books, not even remotely about it.

OS could go on and on. Ya'll get the picture, he hopes.

In the meantime, this whack-job hits a bit close to home this week. OS has an unavoidable business trip that involves flying into Yew Nork City on Saturday, September 11. He's never enthusiastic about flying to that place, especially on that date. Now, this nutter decides to tell the world he's decided to burn a Koran on September 11.

Great. Just great. Thanks, Reverend. OS will be thinking of you as he takes his shoes off after waiting in the security line for an hour each direction. And attempting to explain this mess to his business associates from overseas. Thanks for nothing, you utter inexcusable idiot.

If ya'll are reading from overseas, and OldSouth hopes you do, please forward this screed to your friends in places like Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi, the Emirates, and the Moslem neighborhoods of the UK and Europe.

This nutter does not, repeat does not, speak for 99.99 percent of the citizens of the US. He is at the least mentally ill, probably sane and evil. He is no Christian, and burning a Koran for the cameras is one of the most un-Christian acts of the year.

This is not Christianity.

This is not America.

Tone Deaf: Obama's Mosque

The New York Times tells the story.

WASHINGTON — President Obama delivered a strong defense on Friday night of a proposed Muslim community center and mosque near ground zero in Manhattan, using a White House dinner celebrating Ramadan to proclaim that “as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”

“I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. Ground zero is, indeed, hallowed ground,” the president said in remarks prepared for the annual White House iftar, the sunset meal breaking the day’s fast.

But, he continued: “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are.”

In hosting the iftar, Mr. Obama was following a White House tradition that, while sporadic, dates to Thomas Jefferson, who held a sunset dinner for the first Muslim ambassador to the United States. President George W. Bush hosted iftars annually.

Aides to Mr. Obama say privately that he has always felt strongly about the proposed community center and mosque, but the White House did not want to weigh in until local authorities made a decision on the proposal, planned for two blocks from the site of the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

It's difficult to imagine any US President as utterly tone-deaf to his country as Barack Obama. It's like he's from another planet, or some other country, or some other dimension, place and time.

He's been willing to use the safety of Arizona's citizens to try to get John Kyl to vote his way on immigration. He just leaves a big bunch of the border open to the criminals until Arizona knuckles under. He's been willing to let the entire Gulf Coast twist in the wind until He gets the energy bill He thinks He deserves.

So, a simple question: If he's willing to do that, why wouldn't he be willing to propose a deal with the Saudis, to wit:

1. You get to have your mosque near Ground Zero. But you have to engrave in marble on the face of your mosque, in English, a condemnation of the murderers who attacked on 9/11. Consign them to whatever Perdition you think bad Muslims go to.

2. You allow and actively support the building of a large Catholic church near the largest mosque in Riyadh, and you absolutely guarantee the safety of the clergy, staff and parishoners. You declare that religious freedom and full equality for women are the new law of the Kingdom, and you enforce it. When the Pope shows up to say Mass in Riyadh, you can open your new mosque in lower Manhattan.

3. You denounce all persecutions of Christians and Jews within Islamic environs, and you open diplomatic and trade relations with Israel and the Vatican to prove you mean it. That gets you a building permit.

Shoot-fahr, Bubbah! It's The Chicago Way to horse-trade, ain't it?

Why, a President would damn-near have to be some sort of closet Muslim himself not to pick up the phone and tell Hizzoner Bloomberg this is one of the worst ideas in American history. Or he'd have to be a narcissist, tone-deaf and blind, totally unable to identify with the feelings and sensibilities of anyone except Himself. Completely out of touch with the nation he lives in, which he serves as Head of State.

Just about every Democrat member of Congress and Senate, governors, and Democrat pols down to dog-catcher have pictures of themselves arm-in-arm, smiling sweetly with The One.

Now, all their opposition has to do is publish them, alongside the news that The One actively supports The Mosque At Ground Zero.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali: A Heroine For Our Age

Unlike most Fridays, this one will be wall-to-wall busy. OS does try to set aside the day for his two great passions, Mrs. OS and golf. Mrs. OS is away, the temps will top 100 degrees F, and OS is way behind on his work. He'll tell that story another day...

But, the day should not pass without sharing something that may contribute to the lives of his readers. OS views his hobby as a form of creative revenge upon the new barbarians who wish to kill off our culture.

So, a CBC interview with one of the bravest, most articulate women on the planet: Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She made a courageous and fateful decision in 1992 to escape the fate of an arranged marriage engineered by her Somali father. The rest is history.

The interview is 45 minutes long, in-depth, and well worth the time invested.

OS, if you haven't guessed, is a conservative, Christian, traditional sort of guy. But, he has a passion that young women not be boxed in, have their opportunities foreclosed, by the religious wackiness of parents. It's a real problem here in the South. It's eerie, listening to Ms. Ali, because what she describes from her Somali childhood is what OS encounters here. Fundamentalism kills--soul and body. Grace, love and faith foster life, and make all things possible. OS cites Paul's benediction at the close of Ephesians 2 as the very heart of the Christian message.
Look it up, if you feel so inspired.

Grab a cup of coffee, and give her a listen:

Obama's Ramadan Greetings: Pat Austin In Shreveport Summarizes

Why any woman would embrace Islam, or stay in the room for ten minutes with anyone who does, puzzles OS. The jury returned to the box a long time ago, and tells us that women lose in any iteration of Islam.

Kinda gives perspective why Michelle-Ma-Belle is spending so much time in other locations, away from the family compound.

Well, anyway, The One had especially sweet things to say about the people who mutilate girls for learning how to read. And Pat Austin, a blogger in Shreveport, Louisiana, has some choice words in response. Follow the links she provides--they're ugly but illustrative.

Sometimes, Only Laughter Will Do: Greg Gutfeld's Gay Bar for Moslems

Sometimes, the only effective response to evil stupidity is laughter.

Greg Gutfeld, instead of railing at the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero in York, has come up with a creative response.

I’m announcing tonight, that I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also Islamic gay men. To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space.

Of course, the proposed names have come pouring in. A sampling of the choice ones includes:

The Next Time Someone Tries To Tell You How Benign The Iranian Regime Is...

..remember this article

TEHRAN – Iranian authorities have begun police patrols in the capital to arrest women wearing clothes deemed improper. The campaign against loose-fitting veils and other signs of modernism comes as government opponents are calling for rallies to mark the anniversary of the disputed presidential election, and critics of the crackdown say it is stoking feelings of discontent.

Ballantine Championship: European Tour PGA In South Korea

OS is a golf geek. It's one of those things, and he knows there are therapists out there who can help with this sort of stuff. He just enjoys this vice too much for the moment.

It's Saturday morning in Tennessee, and European Tour Golf is broadcasting from South Korea, actually an island off the southern coast of South Korea. Household names like Gareth Maybin, Ted Oh, Marcus Fraser, and Soren Hanson are near the top of the leaderboard.  The course is beautiful, striking flora and terrain, and these guys really play well, even if there aren't thousands of screaming fans. Not one fist-pumper among them...

Here on the third cup of coffee, it strikes OS that we live in a remarkable world, that allows that live broadcast from South Korea. Considering events of sixty years ago or so, it's remarkable there is a South Korea to broadcast from, much less one that has developed the kind of wealth and order that would allow the event to take place. Golf clubs don't come cheap, and they certainly aren't life-and-death essentials to any nation's economy. But they are built in places that are orderly, where wealth and literacy have developed.

Let's consider where the golf courses aren't, beginning with North Korea, which managed to stage a war sixty years ago that killed several millions, spread misery all over East Asia, and accomplished nothing. They still can't feed themselves, but are working feverishly to develop nuclear weapons with which to blackmail the world. No time for golf, or music, or much of anything else.

Somalia--nope. Chad--nope. Iran--definitely no. Don't expect to see the 'Tehran Open' in this lifetime, do we? But, then again, in 1950, who could have imagined this middle-aged guy drinking his third cup of coffee in Tennessee, watching the tournament live from South Korea, writing about it on a laptop, chatting with his wife on a mobile phone as she drives home from her business trip?

Lots of moving parts there...but made possible in great part by brave people like Harry Truman who decided that the West should make a stand against the Marxist plague in Korea, and all the brave people from all parts of the world who sacrificed so much in that cause. And by people who live their lives believing that making money by making things that make life better is a worthy pursuit. You know...capitalists. And that things like a free press and rule of law with the consent of the governed is the best way to live. You know...Western constitutional principles, which have thrived best in places like the US, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. (Funny, that's where a lot of golf courses are located. How did that happen?)

See the connection yet? This generation's totalitarian plague is Islam, actually a repeat performance from previous centuries, but that's another discussion. We can't make it go away entirely, just like Marxism (after all, Harvard, Oxford and Berkley will always be with us...), but we can maintain the will to say: 'No. You don't get to take over. You can't even feed yourselves, and all you produce is murder and mayhem. You are the ones with the intrinsic problem, even if we have flaws. We're not going to apologize for being right, and we don't care if you get your feelings hurt.'

If we stand fast, here at home, and in other places where we have to, who knows? OS's grandson might watch Mickelson's grandson tee off in Tehran...

Here's hoping.

Silencing The Music In Somalia: NY Times Story

The next time some self-impressed multi-culturalist drones on about how all cultures are equally valid, that Islam is a religion of peace that poses no danger to civilization, etc., etc., etc., share this news nugget with them.

13 April, 2010
MOGADISHU, Somalia — At least 14 radio stations here in the capital stopped broadcasting music on Tuesday, heeding an ultimatum by an Islamist insurgent group to stop playing songs or face “serious consequences.”

The insurgent group, Hizbul Islam, issued its ultimatum 10 days ago and set Tuesday as the deadline to comply, saying that music was “un-Islamic.” In other parts of the country, insurgents have taken over or shut down some radio stations. Last week, the Shabab, the country’s most powerful insurgent group, said it was banning foreign programs like those broadcast by the BBC and Voice of America, calling them Western propaganda that violated Islam.

The radio stations that stopped playing music on Tuesday are based in both insurgent and government-controlled areas of the ruined capital. Those located in insurgent-held territory seemed to have little alternative, but some of the managers at stations in government-controlled territory argued that the lack of security and the loss of advertising income led them to comply as well.

Now, let's see.  We have the suppression of music, the silencing of news programming, all under threat of death at the hands of Muslim jihadists. They have to get their money from somewhere--should we wonder where out loud? Why do the supposedly 'moderate' Muslim states not publicly raise unshirted hell about this stuff?

Now, just for a reality check, let's check out some of the cultural offerings in Israel in the coming weeks. You know, the place with orchestras and conservatories, museums, A FREE ****!!!!**** PRESS, all the things that make them odious to Islamists. And, apparently, Mr. Obama seems to like the Islamists better than the Israelis. He sure as shooting won't stand up to them. Something to ponder as we vote this November, and as we contribute in the days leading up to it.

When this country, and the rest of the West, are willing to finally stand up and say: 'These people are thugs, plain and simple, and we won't tolerate them a moment longer. And, we won't give an inch or a penny to anyone who tolerates them.', we'll be on the road to the solution of our challenges with Islam.

They are the ones with the problem, we aren't.

Geert Wilders Address To House Of Lords: Churchill Was Right

Geert Wilders can travel in the UK again, no thanks to a Labour government that has abandoned the idea of free speech.

He addressed the House of Lords today.  The entire text is here, and is necessary reading.

Remember, in his home country, he is on trial for saying these things. He was barred entry to the UK for saying these things.

The entire speech is memorable, and uncompromising.

Ladies and gentlemen, not far from here stands a statue of the greatest Prime Minister your country ever had. And I would like to quote him here today: “Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. No stronger retrograde force exists in the World. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step (…) the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.” These words are from none other than Winston Churchill wrote this in his book ‘The River War’ from 1899.

Churchill was right.

Wilders is an important voice in the culture, because he addresses the culture head-on, and does not mince words.

Ladies and gentlemen, we should defend the right to freedom of speech. With all our strength. With all our might. Free speech is the most important of our many liberties. Free speech is the cornerstone of our modern societies. Freedom of speech is the breath of our democracy, without freedom of speech our way of life our freedom will be gone.

I believe it is our obligation to preserve the inheritance of the brave young soldiers that stormed the beaches of Normandy. That liberated Europe from tyranny. These heroes cannot have died for nothing. It is our obligation to defend freedom of speech. As George Orwell said: “If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear”.

If Something Is True, How Can It Be Illegal? The Trial of Geert Wilders

Geert Wilders name and controversial case are much better known in Europe than the US.  A simple search of his name will yield much of his biography.

Here is the short version:  He is a Dutch member of parliament, a libertarian, who has vociferously spoken out against radical Islam.  For his pains, he is now on trial, looking at a 15-month prison term.

The charge?

'Icitement to hate and discrimination'.

Sort of sends a chill down the spine doesn't it?  Rather like Stalin's Russia of the 1930's, or Hitler's Germany of the 1940's, or Mao's China of the 1960's, or... or... or...

The American Left looks ever back toward Europe for its inspiration.  If Wilders is successfully silenced, it will give enormous encouragement to Hopey-Changey and his Justice Department, as they attempt to mute any and all who may dare oppose them. An 'incitement to hate and discrimination' indictment will do just fine, thank you.

I sense his words will matter much to us going forward, and it may be wise to print them out, and store them away for your children, against that day when it may be dangerous to otherwise transmit or speak them.

Mr. President, members of the court, I would like to only use a few minutes of my right to speak.

And I would like to begin by saying that of all our attainments, freedom is the most precious and most vulnerable. It is what people have dedicated their lives to and what people have given their lives for. Our freedom in this country is the fruit of centuries. It is the result of a history that has no equal and has brought us to where we are today.

I believe with all my heart and soul that the freedom is threatened in the Netherlands. That heritage, which generations could only dream of, is precisely this freedom which is no longer a given fact, no longer a matter self-evidence.

I dedicate my life to defending our freedom. I know what the risks are and I every day again, pay the price for that. I do not complain about it; it is my own decision. I see it as my duty and therefore I am standing here today.

I know that the words I use are sometimes tough, but they are never reckless. It is not my intention to spare the ideology of conquest and destruction, but neither do I intend to offend people.

I have nothing against Muslims. I have a problem with the Islam and the Islamization of our country because Islam is at right angles to freedom.

Future generations will wonder how we, in 2010, at this location, in this room, served our most precious asset. Whether the freedom is for both sides in this debate and thus also for Islam-critics. Or whether in the Netherlands only one side of the debate may be heard. Whether freedom of speech in the Netherlands applies to everyone, or only to some.

The answer to that is immediately also the answer to the question whether freedom still has a home in this country.

Freedom has but never been owned by a small group, but has always been the heritage of us all. We have all been blessed by it.

Lady Justice wears a blindfold, but she can hear perfectly well, she can listen perfectly well. And I hope she, Lady Justice, will hear the following phrases sound, loud and clear:

"It is not only the right, but also the duty of free people to speak out against any ideology that threatens freedom."

Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, was right:

"The price for freedom is eternal vigilance."

I hope with all I have in me that freedom of expression in this trial will prevail. Not only that I will be acquitted, but that the freedom of speech will continue to exist.

Finally, Mr. Chairman, members of the court. In this trial it of course is about the freedom of expression. But in this trial it is certainly also about finding the truth. The statements I have made, the comparisons I have drawn — are they true? As mentioned in the summons? Because if something is true, how can it be illegal?

Therefore I ask you strongly not only to grant my request for the hearing of witnesses and experts in the field of freedom of speech. But I also ask you explicitly to honor my requests for the hearing of witnesses and experts on the field of Islam, all in full publicity. I hereby am not only referring to the gentleman Jansen and Admiraal but also on the expert witnesses from Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries. Preferably, all.

I must have the ability to defend myself. I must prove you that I have spoken the truth, please do not obstruct me from that. Because without these witnesses, I cannot defend myself well and in my view it will be out of the question that this is a fair trial.

Thank you.

And thanks to Cranmer for making them available to us all.  He's one of the best out there these days.

If you feel so inspired, copy/paste and pass these words to your friends.

The True Unsung Hero

Thomas Friedman of the New York Times reminds us of the true unsung hero of the Christmas Day attempted terror attack:  the terrorist's father, who warned US intelligence in detail that his son had been snared by the jihadists, and represented a threat to the civilized worlds.

Think on that one for a moment!  Think about how we love our kids, advocate for them, wish to see them always prosper and never come to harm.

What if it were my son, for instance, that decided that the KKK and Aryan Nation held the 'secret to life', and that he felt obligated to target blacks, Jews and Catholics for violent elimination from society?  Even after a comfortable, even privileged background and education?  Would I have the cojones to call the FBI and let them know?  I hope so.

I would also hope that the FBI would have the common sense to listen and make certain the word got out before someone was harmed, beginning with my son.  That's where things broke down, on our end, our people, our intelligence service, our law enforcement, our White House living in denial that there really are dangerous followers of The Prophet out there, too busy feeding the banksters to notice.

But, another general breakdown has taken place in the parts of the world where Islam prevails:

Finding people with the courage to confront that breakdown — the one identified by the father, the one that lures young Muslims away from the mainstream into a willingness to commit suicide against innocent civilians as part of some jihadist power fantasy — is what matters most right now.
Yes, we need to fix our intelligence. Yes, we absolutely must live up to our own ideals, as President Obama is trying to do in banning torture and closing Guantánamo Bay. We can’t let this “war on terrorism” consume us. We can’t let our country become just The United States of Fighting Terrorism and nothing more. We are the people of July 4th — not Sept. 11th.

But even if we do all that, no laws or walls we put up will ever be sufficient to protect us unless the Arab and Muslim societies from whence these suicide bombers emerge erect political, religious and moral restraints as well — starting by shaming suicide bombers and naming their actions “murder,” not “martyrdom.”

Finally, finally, someone from MSM/ObamaLand is saying what the rest of us have been saying for a long, long time:  There is a big problem out there in IslamWorld, and until they put their house in order, this thing will not end peacefully.

Finally.
