Here's an interesting chart from Doug Ross.
He correlates per-capita-pupil spending by state with standardized test results.
Unsurprisingly, Washington D.C. burns through more cash per pupil than anyone, and produces miserable results. New York and New Jersey fare pretty well.
But, look down the list. Several states, like Idaho, spend relatively little, and obtain impressive results.
