The stranger news from the Adam Smith Institute relates that the Argentine government has nationalized the local holdings of Spanish-held oil company Repsol.
Oh joy...
Let us remember, at this point, that Obama and Miz Hilary really really really like the Kirchner government in Buenos Aires. They think these wonderful wise people should be allowed to take over the Falkland Islands. The fact that the residents of the Falklands are British, and wish to ever remain so, is of no consequence in their minds.
Just something to keep in mind this November, ya'll.

The Canaries? Does that mean they are going to sail right past the Falklands. Actually, whilst it could never be admitted publicly, the seizure of Repsol's assets in Argentina is actually a great thing for the UK as it paints Argentina in a very bad light and shows that any treaty they might sign in regards to the Falklands would be pretty worthless.
Farmland has a good point. Problem is--Obama and Hillary really don't care whether Argentina will or won't honor a treaty. The main thing is outcome--the Falklands in the hands of the Argentinians.
OS finds it hard to paint Argentina in much worse light, given its record for the past 100 years or so.
Remember OS, 100 years ago Argentina was one of the richest countries in the world, with a GDP per capital higher than most European countries, and right up with us in the US. They are Exhibit A for incompetent gov't. And the sad thing, many of their citizens fall for the distraction tricks of Falklands, Repsol etc.
