The real issue is: Is Rahmbo a Chicago resident? Or is Chicago his own Rotten Borough?
The guy renting his house has an opinion:

Halpin refused to move out when Emanuel returned to Chicago and briefly staged his own run for mayor.
Halpin applauded the ruling. “Now I feel vindicated by the court,” Halpin told WGN-AM radio.
Residency, Halpin said, is “one of the rights that goes with the rent payment.”
Halpin said “it’s very clear that only one resident” could be attached to a single residence, “unless it was some sort of hippie commune.”

The Cold Comfort Of Being Correct: The School That Fired Katherine Birbalsingh Is Forced To Shut Its Doors And 'Recycle'

CHILDREN at a struggling academy are to be sent to new schools so it can be demolished and redeveloped.
Around 150 Year 7 and 8 pupils at St Michael and All Angels CofE Academy in Wyndham Road, Camberwell, are to be sent to other schools in Southwark from September, it has emerged.
The school is to stop taking new pupils until 2013 as it goes through a major restructure.
The faith academy has struggled since it opened in 2007 and was judged to be inadequate by Ofsted inspectors in April last year.
The report said it needed to urgently address poor behaviour of pupils.
Which is precisely what Ms. Birbalsingh shared with the Conservative Party Conference last October 5. OS can't urge his readers strongly enough to take eight minutes and view this address, and then pass it along to friends.
For which candor, she was...well...sacked. For saying the unmentionable truth: 'The system is broken, because it keeps poor children poor.'
She just wasn't fired, she was publicly tarred and feathered by the board of the school and its headmaster. They attempted to make her 'radioactive', and poison her future career as a teacher.
Now, we learn, following that good day's work, they have been forced to admit, that, yes, the school is a shambles, and it has to be shut down. Then demolished. Then reopened under new management.
Hmmm....
Now, shouldn't the penalty fall upon the school head and board that drew the knife on the teacher that told the truth and appealed for sanity? Miss B wasn't even particularly singling out the school she taught in to be vilified, but offered it as an example of a much greater systemic failure.
But, being a realist, OS knows that there will be zero disruption experienced in the career of ‘Dr’ Irene Bishop, the 'Executive Head', and no fallout for the Bishop of Southwark (who could have come to Miss B's defense), or anyone else involved in her mistreatment.
Except Miss Birbalsingh. And the students. And their families. And the neighborhood.
That's ok, though. They're just the people who do the work and do the work and do the work, and pay and pay and pay the taxes, and try to survive the school, and try to better their kids lives. What matter they? They'jest the LittlePeople.
OS is soooooo grateful to live in Tennessee. The rest of the world thinks we don't wear shoes here, that we're rednecks and hillbillies chawin' 'baccy and playing banjos on the tailgates of our pick-em-up trucks. And we do have our share of failings, no doubt about it.
We, however, elected successive state legislatures that deliberately leave home-schoolers alone. That allows charter schools, and doesn't legislate private school start-ups out of existence.
We have a by-God choice! We can, and do, vote with our feet, to the eternal anger of the teachers unions and the bureaucrats in the Department of Edumahcation.

Just Because It's Saturday, And Because OS Wants To: Morton Lauridsen's Ubi Caritas
We live in this world, where murdering dictators are hosted at White House state dinners, where nutjobs decide they can walk up to a supermarket and just begin killing people, and where people we should expect to act like grownups act like nutjobs and spout off despicable hateful nonsense on the floor of our House of Representatives.
And that's just the past two weeks, ya'll.
We also live in a world that produces the occasional composer like Morton Lauridsen, and conductors like JungPyo Hong, and choirs like Gloria Chorale of Seoul Jangshin University.
This is just utterly beautiful, and gives cause for hope. All is not lost, by any means. Those people referenced in the first paragraph most likely are, but we aren't obligated to follow them to Perdition.
OldSouth hopes his loyal readers will take about six minutes out of the day, and let this music do its work.

He was fired tonight, said 'goodbye' tonight. And he's gone.
Comcast bought NBC, and has decided not to let MSNBC be a deserted island.
Plus, the man was just sooooooo obnoxious, hateful, spiteful, and constantly angry.
The sort of guy that chases viewers away.

The European carbon market has been temporarily closed after fears that it has been the victim of fraud. Having lost £7 million’s worth of carbon credits, there could be a polluter somewhere in Europe happily belching out their fumes knowing that they won’t be paying for it. This isn’t the first crisis to hit the scheme and the EU should now take a step back and assess if its climate change policies are the optimum way to curb emissions.
The EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) simply does not work. The EU’s own Law Enforcement Agency has estimated that in 2009, €5 billion of revenue was lost through fraudulent activity and in some countries this accounted for 90% of market activity! While the market cost of carbon credits was €12.5, they were being sold for €1.
OldSouth shares this with you, snowed in here in the South, in a year when AlGore predicted that we would have to explain to young children what snow used to be...
OS will drink an extra cup of hot chocolate in his honor this evening.

Steve Cohen And The Anti Defamation League, And Yet One More Opportunity To Backtrack On MSNBC--Fail!
The ADL was not impressed by Rep. Cohen's behaviour:
Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:
No matter how strong one's objections to any policy or to the tactics of political opponents, invoking the Holocaust and the Nazi effort to exterminate the Jewish people is offensive and has no place in a civil political discourse.
Using the Holocaust as an analogy to express frustration or comparing false information to the anti-Semitic blood libel or to Goebbels' genocidal propaganda is inappropriate and serves only to trivialize the dangers of anti-Semitism and the unique tragedy in human history that saw the murder of six million Jews and millions of others.
We respect Representative Cohen's right to engage in vigorous debate about health care policy. We hope he will reconsider his offensive statement and we urge all members of Congress to reject such odious comparisons.
At least, that may have gotten his attention. Still a thunderous silence from his fellow Dems--the ones who scream about civility...
So, he trundles hisself onto the Ed show...
..and Ed (a member of the Politburo Left, if there ever was one...) throws him softballs to see if he won't back down. And, Cohen begins to make noises that sound like he might regret what he said. Remember, in his world, words don't have meaning--they're just noises you make to get people to let you have your way today. He almost almost almost makes it over the hedge, almost gets it done, and then at the very very end, the RealSteveCohen comes charging back. He takes one final swipe at GOP Congressman Mike Pence:
I think Mike Pence said he often wants to be concise, careful, and consistent. Well that’s someone who I’ll never mention again who lived in the previous century who worked for bad people. That’s what he did.”
In the end, he never regrets a bit of it. So much for civility.
Where's Paul Krugman, who railed about civil discourse? Miz Nancy? Anyone out there amongst the Literati Of The Left? Anyone, save the ADL?

Steve Cohen On CNN: John King Gives Him The Opportunity To Backtrack...
...to no avail.
Cohen just kept on insisting that he was justified in his poisonous rhetoric, rejecting King's gentle suggestions that reasonable people may conclude he was comparing his House GOP colleagues to Goebbels.
King even cited words Cohen had recently published about civility in public discourse, which his words on the floor of the House totally discredited. It only made Cohen more adamant. The interview ends with Cohen comparing himself to film maker Mel Brooks, and King finally loses patience by pointing out that Brooks is a comedian, and that Cohen is supposed to be engaged in serious political debate.
One would think...but then again, this is Steve Cohen, and Tennessee Democrats, and House Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi. OS has yet to see any Democrat distance himself from these horrible remarks by Cohen, or his aggresive re-assertion of the same.
Is there anyone, anywhere amongst the Dems willing to say: 'Yes, he's in my party, and no, he does not speak for me. There's no excuse for this behaviour on the House floor.' How about his Democrat colleagues in the Tennessee delegation, like Jim Cooper of Nashville?

Is there perhaps a rabbi anywhere who might wish to point out that just being a member of the Almighty's Chosen doesn't confer a special right to engage in this behaviour?
Is there an historian, or ethics professor in any Tennessee university (or any university), willing to speak up about this sort of thing?

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another. The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof. Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.
Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed: There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry? I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing: And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
