One By One, The Hound Of Heaven Hunts Us Down: 'My Fellow Liberals, I Am Tired Of You'

A pithy letter from a courageous soul in California has surfaced, just before Christmas.

It merits quoting, in full.

I’m a secular/agnostic Californian and longtime reader of your blog. I’ve enjoyed your books beginning with Crunchy Cons, and have valued your insights over the years.
Though you don’t know me, I feel like I know you and your family. And I want to share with you, from the liberal bastion of Northern California, that I am officially tired of the type of people who have surrounded me my entire life. In the wake of Trump’s election, I am experiencing “tribe fatigue.” I’m not tired of The Other, Detestable Tribe. I’m tired of my own.

A bit about me: I am a [deleted] with two young children. My parents were non-religious Democrats, and my ex-Catholic mom loathes organized religion to this day.
So I was raised a secular liberal. My college professors were secular liberals. During my journalism phase, my newspaper colleagues were secular liberals. My law school professors and peers were – in the vast majority – secular liberals. Almost everyone at my corporate law firm was a secular liberal. My California neighbors and friends are secular liberals, as are my colleagues. My mother, siblings, and their spouses are all secular liberals.

By all rights, I should be a member in good standing of their tribe, “liking” their Facebook posts and joining their candlelight vigils against the evil Trump Administration. But November 8 and its aftermath revealed to me that I am just so tired of these people. I can’t be like them, and I don’t want my kids turning into them.
I am tired of their undisguised contempt for tens of millions of Americans, with no effort to temper their response to the election with humility or empathy.
I am tired of their unexamined snobbery and condescension.
I am tired of their name-calling and virtue-signaling as signs of supposedly high intelligence.
And this, dear reader, is where the truly pithy parts begin....
I am tired of their trendiness, jumping on every left-liberal bandwagon that comes along (transgender activism, anyone?) and then acting like anyone not on board is an idiot/hater.

I am tired of their shallowness. It’s hard to have a deep conversation with people who are obsessed with moving their kids’ pawns across the board (grades, sports, college, grad school, career) and, in their spare time, entertaining themselves and taking great vacations.

I am tired of their acceptance of vulgarity and sarcastic irreverence as the cultural ocean in which their kids swim. I like pop culture as much as the next person, but people who would never raise their kids on junk food seem to think nothing of letting then wallow in cultural junk, exposed to nothing ennobling, aspirational, or even earnest.
I am tired of watching them raise clueless kids (see above) who go off to college and within months are convinced they live in a rapey, racist patriarchy; “Make America Great Again” is hate speech; and Black Lives Matter agitators are their brothers-in-arms against White Privilege. If my kids are like that at nineteen, I’ll feel I’ve seriously failed them as a parent. Yet the general sentiment seems to be these are good, liberal kids who may have gotten a bit carried away.

I am tired of their lack of interest in any form of serious morality or self-betterment. These are decent, responsible people, many compassionate by temperament. Yet they seem two-dimensional, as if they believe that being a nice, well-socialized person who holds the correct political views is all there is, and there is nothing else to talk about. Isn’t there, though?

I am tired of being bored and exasperated by everybody. I feel like I have read this book a thousand times, and there are no surprises in it. Down with Trump! Trans Lives Matter! Climate deniers are destroying the planet! No cake, we’re gluten-free!
These are good people in a lot of ways. But there has got to be a better tribe.

That leads me to . . . drum roll . . . the Christian Right. It is no small feat, switching tribes. It feels stressful and weird to abandon your tribe for the Detested Other Side.
Since November 8, my husband and I have been taking the kids to church. (He is politically conservative with a religious bent, so no argument there.) I have come this close to buying a giant poster of the American flag for the living room. I may do it still.
Right now, I am struggling to accept the basic Christian doctrines (virgin birth, resurrection, second coming) because I feel the Christian tribe may be the right tribe for my family. We just finished watching a BBC miniseries about the birth of Jesus, which was so beautiful and moving compared to secular TV. My nine-year-old really enjoyed it. I want to prepare my kids to live according to some unchanging truth, not subject to every passing trend, and this felt like a start. But I worry that an inability to believe in the supernatural aspects of the faith will limit my ability to be a “real” Christian.

Last Sunday’s sermon mentioned 1 Peter:18-19, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors.” This may be obvious to you, but secular liberalism does seem empty in some way, despite all the things my educated, middle-class tribe has to be grateful for. If that’s what’s been handed down to me, I want more, especially for my precious kids. I’m trying.

The famous, now-neglected poem by Francis Thompson, here read by Richard Burton, comes to mind.  The opening lines ring loud and true in so many lives:

I FLED Him, down the nights and down the days ;
I fled Him, down the arches of the years;
I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways

Of my own mind ; and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.
Up vistaed hopes, I sped;
And shot, precipitated,
Adown Titanic glooms of chasmed fears.

From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
But with unhurrying chase.
And unperturbed pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic instancy,

They beat — and a Voice beat
More instant than the Feet —
''All 'things betray thee, who betrayest Me."

Somewhere along the way, at sometime, she heard some other voice, a phrase of music, a turn of phrase--something, somehow, somewhere. And this year, the Year of Our Lord 2016 (not C.E. 2016!)
the bell rung for her that could not be un-rung.

For her, the adventure now begins, and it will not be an easy trip. One such 'traitor to tribe' is Rosaria Champagne Butterfield, who left a most cozy life inside the academic-left 'bubble' to follow the call of conscience and Christ. Her book The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert found here on Amazon, is not an easy read, because hers has not been an easy journey. OS knows people who are members of the local branch of the tribe she left behind, and he has not yet summoned the courage to bring up her name to them.

So, OS sends greetings to the dear lady in California, who will undoubtedly experience some real losses as she embraces her new 'tribe', and will be horrified to find how many members of that 'new tribe' are just as awful as the people she left behind. Christ himself, however is calling, who never fails.

As one old preacher once put it to his congregation: I've only got three things to share with you.

God's in charge.
He always finishes what he begins.
He never leaves Himself without a witness.

Merry Christmas, dear lady. Keep writing, and sending news of the journey.

In Memoriam Karel Husa, Composer of 'Music for Prague 1968'

Sometimes, words won't do. Sometimes events demand a composer to memorialize events, to set down an eternal marker that says--'This thing happened, and this music will always remember it for us'.

Beethoven did that in the Third Symphony, originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte, the dedication withdrawn as the man's true colors emerged.

Britten did it again in War Requiem--devastatingly so.

Karel Husa, the Czech composer, memorialized the Soviet suppression of the 1968 Prague Spring with 'Music For Prague'. Words won't do, only music will. It is hard listening, because it is a depiction of an incredibly ugly episode. It ends in inspiration, quoting the Hussite hymn 'Ye Who Are God's Warriors'--translation below.

Twenty-one years later, the Soviet goons departed with their tails between their legs. The Czechs and Slovaks sorted themselves out peacefully. One major factor in both event was the Christian faith that held the society together.

And, they had artists like Husa.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Ye who are God's warriors and of his law,
Pray to God for help and have faith in Him;
That always with Him you will be victorious.

Christ is worth all your sacrifices, He will pay you back an hundredfold.
If you give up your life for Him you will receive eternal life.
Happy is he who dies fighting for the truth.

The Lord commandeth you not to fear those who harm the body,
And commandeth you to even put your life down for the love of your brothers.

Therefore, archers, crossbowmen, halberdiers of knightly rank,
Scythemen and macebearers from all walks of life,
Remember always the Lord benevolent.

Do not fear your enemies, nor gaze upon their number,
Keep the Lord in your hearts; for Him fight on,
And before enemies you need not flee.

Since ages past Czechs have said and had proverbs which state,
That if the leader is good, so too is the journey.[a]

Remember all of you the password which was given out.
Obey your captains and guard one another.
Stay sharp and everyone keep formation.

You beggars and wrongdoers, remember your soul!
For greed and theft don't lose your life.
And pay no heed to the spoils of war.

And with this happily cry out – saying, "At thee! Have at thee!"
Grasp the weapon in your hands and shout, "God is our Lord!"

Children, Go Where I Send Thee--And Yes, Virginia, That Is Kenny Rogers

OS usually does not share this sort of item--but this deserves attention.

The singing and arranging are simply exceptional--a joy to the ear from beginning to end.

The old spiritual 'Go Where I Send Thee' has fallen into disuse. In these times, it needs to be revived. The lyrics are actually in the tradition of other 'catechism' carols and spirituals--teaching Bible stories and theology couched in poetry, and employing repetition to ensure memorization, all set to attractive music.

It is a message of hope in dark times, and if we are honest with ourselves, there have been many many dark times, not just this one. The spirituals and carols survive them all, humble and indestructible witnesses to truth and light.

Stockman's Chart Of The Day--The Bottom 90% vs The Top .01%

The Donald has some big challenges ahead.

This is one of the biggest--the top .01% control as much wealth as the bottom 90%.

Little wonder that for most people daily life feels like swimming upstream in a river of glue.

To quote Dave Ramsey: 'Folk's this ain't capitalism! It's the law of the jungle!'

Sulzberger's Non-Apology--Time for the Yew Nork Timez To Head For The Bankruptcy Court

...because the financial admission of bankruptcy, which would force a complete remake of this decrepit, corrupt and useless relic of the East Coast Establishment, would be a true admission of their moral and professional bankruptcy.

It appears that Publisher Sulzberger is looking at a flood of cancellations and lost ad revenue, and is reaching out the the 300 subscribers he still has--to wit:

To our readers,
When the biggest political story of the year reached a dramatic and unexpected climax late Tuesday night, our newsroom turned on a dime and did what it has done for nearly two years — cover the 2016 election with agility and creativity.
After such an erratic and unpredictable election there are inevitable questions: Did Donald Trump’s sheer unconventionality lead us and other news outlets to underestimate his support among American voters? What forces and strains in America drove this divisive election and outcome? Most important, how will a president who remains a largely enigmatic figure actually govern when he takes office?
As we reflect on this week’s momentous result, and the months of reporting and polling that preceded it, we aim to rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism. That is to report America and the world honestly, without fear or favor, striving always to understand and reflect all political perspectives and life experiences in the stories that we bring to you. It is also to hold power to account, impartially and unflinchingly. We believe we reported on both candidates fairly during the presidential campaign. You can rely on The New York Times to bring the same fairness, the same level of scrutiny, the same independence to our coverage of the new president and his team.
We cannot deliver the independent, original journalism for which we are known without the loyalty of our subscribers. We want to take this opportunity, on behalf of all Times journalists, to thank you for that loyalty.
Sincerely,
Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr.

Nary an admission of  the blatant bias, the years of pandering to The Left, and the smug demonization of AnyOneWhoIsNotThem as a yob, a redneck, a Deplorable.

Let's finish them off, whaddya say? Not a visit to their pages, let those paper copies stack up on the newstands, especially at Starbucks.

By the way, the UK Guardian is now plaintively asking for donations from readers!

Just Imagine Podesta As White House Chief Of Staff--The Destruction Of Bernie Sanders--Where Would You Stick The Knife In?

The Podesta Quote Of The Day: Where would you stick the knife in?

HT to John Ruberry at Marathon Pundit.

  • Underling writes to Podesta--Bernie needs to be ground to a pulp.
  • Podesta replies--I agree with that in principle. Where would you stick the knife in?

That's an....interesting...choice of words, no?

Where would you stick the knife in?

Where would you stick the knife in?

For comparison, let us consider a remark by John Erlichman, President Nixon's right-hand man:

  • Well, I think we ought to let him hang there. Let him twist slowly, slowly in the wind.
Hmmm...

OS lived through Watergate as he came of age. He still remembers that sick feeling in the pit of his stomach, day after day.

On the present trajectory, we are headed down a much longer and darker tunnel.

For anyone still considering a vote for Miss Hillary, consider that John 'Stick The Knife In' Podesta is her Most Trusted Advisor. As you stand in line to vote, and enter that booth, let his words echo in your ears: Where would you stick the knife in?

Second Thoughts, Buyer Regret--Call It What You Will--Google Trends Displays Number of 'Change Vote' Inquiries

This is not looking good for Miss Hillary.

There appears to be a lot of buyer's remorse out there...and in some states, voters can actually return and change their votes.  Like Pennsylvania.

And, back in Florida, Miss Hillary is appearing with Miss Machado--the Miss Universe who put on sixty pounds after winning, in violation of her contract. She then went on to hang with drug dealers and appear on the Spanish equivalent of 'Big Brother', shagging one of the other residents of the house on camera...

It seems fitting.

Les Mis "Do You Hear The People Sing" Time For All Deplorables To Go Vote

A post from earlier days--repeated in light of more recent days...

Some days, the clouds part, the light pours down from Heaven, and the
angels sing. These days occur only rarely, and arrive unbidden,
unexpected, and OS receives each one with renewed gratitude.

Such occurred earlier this year, when Miss Hillary announced that she considers OS, and millions like him, deplorable.

It's flattering, really, to think that Herself took the time and energy to deliver such a compliment. Just to be reassured that OS's lifelong embrace of faith, tradition, family, heterosexual normalcy, monogamous marriage between one man and one woman, capitalism, literacy, the rule of law under the Constitution, the use of English for the conducting of the business of the culture, religious tolerance, defined borders and sane immigration policy...the list extends on and on...is the peculiar
target of her disdain. It's reassuring to have someone of The Great And Good lend her endorsement.

Let's not forget that detail about the need to point out, gently of course, that Islam and
Christianity make diametrically opposed claims about the ultimate nature of deity. They can't both be correct.

And OS has yet to see a Methodist walk into a nightclub, theatre, bar, coffee shop or church and murder multitudes of innocents for the cause of John Wesley.

She finds these beliefs, and those who espouse them--deplorable.

OS gladly accepts the label, pleads guilty as charged, considering the source of the accusation.

Now on to November, and the opportunity to respond at the ballot box to Herself, and all her minions, from local dog-catcher to Senator. As one of her comrades-in-arms has declared, "Never let an opportunity go to waste.'

OS agrees. Now THAT truly would be ...deplorable.

QOTD from Huma: 'How Is This Not Classified?' President Obama Emailing Hillary's Private Server Under A Pseudonym

Speechless, just speechless.

And simultaneously, not at all surprised.

From John Lott, PhD (UCLA)--here's his CV, btw.

(No, he's not a nutter living in Mama's basement, ya'll. But he does have guns!)

And the bizarre tale goes like this--

President Obama used a pseudonym when sending or receiving emails through the private server system Hillary Clinton used as secretary of state, according to nearly 200 pages of documents released Friday by the FBI.
Included in the documents are notes from an April 2016 interview with long-time Clinton aide Huma Abedin, conducted in connection with the FBI’s two-year investigation into Clinton’s use of the private server for official correspondence.
One note was about the FBI showing Abedin an email address “believed to be a pseudonym used by the President,” as reported by Politico and other news-gathering agencies.
Abedin said she didn’t recognize the name and “expressed her amazement” that Obama apparently used a pseudonym.
She also exclaimed, “How is this not classified?” according to the documents. . . .

One almost feels sorry for Huma, for a few seconds at least. She was Hillary's intern as a young woman during the 1990's, and let herself get drawn in to the black hole that is TheClintons.  She's the latest life destroyed. The fact that she is actively working for the Muslim Brotherhood while at Mrs. Clinton's side does give one a certain sense of satisfaction, that and thought of what life must have been like married to Carlos Danger, aka Congressman Anthony Weiner.

The four-year old child of that marriage truly is a victim of this horrible episode. Here's hoping he gets to grow up in the care of sane and loving family members while his parents serve out their long prison sentences.

Since We're Fascinated With Mid-2000's Audio Of Candidates, Let's Hear From Miss Hillary

A tape has emerged of her 2006 interview with Jewish Press.

Hmm... she's chattering about fixing foreign elections, treats the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier by Hamas as just another day at the office, chatters about 'Islamic Extremism' as 'a global threat', chatters about keeping the conversation  going with the Russians....

She was running for Senate back in that day, willing to say anything to get elected.

Yep.The Donald should never have said those things he said to sleazy Billy Bush.

But compare that to the peril we face with his opponent in office, complete with her cast of characters--Podesta, Mills, Human Abedin...

BTW, about Huma... even if she's not officially on staff, she'll remain embedded in Miss Hillary's world. She knows too much. And since she and Creepy Anthony Weiner share a child, he's in the picture as well.

Oh, joy.

BTW, Huma's family founded the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood, and she definitely has remained faithful to family. She was on the inside circle in Hillary's world in 2006. Meditate on this a bit... Hillary chattering about Islamic Terrorism, Human as her closest confidante...

The Donald was (and can still be) offensive. Hillary and Huma will hang Israel out to dry, only this time the Israelis will go down fighting. Millions of lives could be lost, and Hillary will find Someone Else To Blame.

Can we afford this?

As ObamaCare (Hillary claims it as Hillarycare!) Implodes, A Walk Down Twitter Memory Lane from Marathon Pundit

John Ruberry does a great job on his blogs--this is one of his best ever. OS suggests you go there, and keep a pdf of this page, as those tweets will likely disappear--soon.

The richest one of course, from Hillary's lips to your ear--from 16 February 2016:

"You know, before it was called Obamacare, it was called Hillarycare."

Rigging the Election - Video IV: $20K Wire Transfer From Belize Returned Over 495,000 Views In One Day

Dont'cha just love the term 'conflict engagement'--as in violent disruption of GOP candidate rallies.

Ron Fournier: Clinton Used Secret Server To Protect “Circle Of Enrichment” MSNBC Interview with Morning Joe

Even the Clinton campaign team knew that Hillary and Bill were using the secret server to enable the shakedown of donors for their own enrichment.

This interview is from MSNBC!! Fournier is not right-wing kook, rather a life-long Democrat.

This is not The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

The final ten seconds of the video are particularly damning...

The MSM may be waking to the notion that they have been (willingly) hustled by the Clintons, the Obamas, the DNC. et al., who of course will not be around to clear up the wreckage when their customers--their viewers--simply stop believing a word they way, and cease to consume their product. It's happened to the large liberal daily papers already. The broadcast networks are next.

Let's not bother to shed a tear for any of them. They have poisoned the culture, and deserve to go out of business.

Who I Voted For

OS voted early this year, on the second day the polling place up in Mayberry County's county seat was open. The place was packed--parking at a premium, about thirty folks cheerfully waiting in line in the tiny building.

With rare exception OS has not missed an Election Day at any level since he turned eighteen. In the contest between Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, OS voted for the third party--the whole trauma of Watergate and the loss of the Vietnam War (which featured the death of the son of the family's closest friends) had left its mark. No to both was the verdict that year.

Four years later, OS voted for Reagan, and recalls a mild sense of nausea at the moment--from fear that Carter might actually be given a second term, or that Reagan might turn out to be worse. The Iran debacle, and the economy nearly completely unwinding, and 20% mortgage rates did not earn Mr. Carter a second bite at the apple. Better a plain-speaking actor than an incompetent Sunday School teacher.

The years have marched on since 1980, have they not? And here we are, facing chaos, with an audacious criminal within reach of the Oval Office, succeeding another like her, with only The Donald stepping into the line of fire to dare challenge Herself, barely surviving the onslaught of those who are desperate to keep Things As They Are.

So OS voted, this time with a calm heart and sense of moral clarity, with this reasoning:

The Donald will not achieve everything he lists in his stump speech. If he gets even 25% of it done, we are in much better shape. Miss Hillary, upon achieving 25% of her list, will create havoc.

But for whom, really, OS's legions of readers ask, did he vote?

1. OS voted for the families in his world who have children in military service, in the hopes that they will have a Commander-in-Chief who will not sacrifice their lives for the sake of their own political ambitions. The memory of the funeral of that young man lost in Vietnam, and the tragedies that befell his family in the decades that followed, are still fresh in the mind. OS does not wish to attend the funerals of those bright young kids.

2. OS voted for his friend the police officer in Mayberry, who works to prevent crime by teaching the law-abiding how to protect themselves. He is a kind soul, and is on any given day these days, a target. OS doesn't wish to attend his funeral either, or see him persecuted for simply doing his job.

3. OS voted the men of Mayberry--the ones who used to have great modest careers pouring concrete, framing houses, working as plumbers on large projects. Now, they compete with illegal Mexican labor, work longer hours (when work exists) for less money than they did fifteen years ago. A lot of them now mow lawns and do handyman work, and OS hires them. They are beaten down by it all, and some are very angry. Marriages crumble under the weight.

4. OS voted for a choir of young people who sang for him at an urban high school. They sang like angels when he visited the classroom, bringing tears to his eyes. The teacher explained that it was the choir that kept most of them in school at all. All but one were black (and the white kid spoke black street patois), and they were eager bright kids. Some really had voices that could develop into something special in the wider world. OS conducted a quick survey--

Who was Beethoven? (A composer)
When did he live? (Blank stares)

Who was Scott Joplin? (Blank stares)

Who was Duke Ellington? Dizzy Gillespie? Count Basie? (A few had heard the names)

OK, closer to home--Who is Quincy Jones? (Blank stares) Who was Michael Jackson? (Some recognition there) Did you know Quincy was a classically trained black composer who was Michael Jackson's producer? (Blank stares)

OK, closer to home, who is Ice Tea? (The white kid knew the old-school hip hop artists...)
Tupac? (a few could answer 'Shakur')
Song titles they knew -- Blame It On (The Alchol! they chimed in)
Tryin' to catch me(Ridin' Dirty! they chimed in)

The teacher's pained look said so much. He was doing heroic work, and these kids were doing better than most of their peers. I asked for a show of hands of the seniors--about 15 kids. Two sort of had some sort of further education plan. Most had not even taken an ACT.

The teacher introduced me to the principal--we walked to the office in the company of a police officer. Nice lady, who broke up three fights in the course of our twenty minutes together.

The city in which this school is located has been in the hands of the Democrats since the days of Andrew Jackson. This is abject inexcusable failure.

5. OS voted for his friends with enormously talented kids who struggle to run their modest businesses and send their kids to college without seeing them incur mountains of debt. It is a daily struggle--no wealth is being built, they are grateful the doors stay open and some sort of future is possible. They both work other jobs, by the way.

6. OS voted for friends, who like him, lost their health insurance last year, after struggling to maintain some decent amount of coverage for ever-spiraling prices.  To no avail--the insurance pools vaporized, and that which was available was priced at twice the monthly mortgage, for inferior coverage. Mrs. OS refuses to go to the doctor, and she should, because the costs are so high. The 'pool' coverage most bought will likely vaporize again, or double in price. Thanks, Obama!! This is your creation!

7.  OS voted for his hometown, which is rapidly becoming too dangerous to enjoy. After the random murder of a tourist three weeks ago, two blocks from the Symphony Hall, the orchestra is handing out tickets gratis for this weekend's concert, which will be wonderful. Mrs. OS has put her foot down--not a chance of venturing down there on a Friday or Saturday evening. The city in which this orchestra is located has been in the hands of the Democrats since the days of Andrew Jackson. This is abject inexcusable failure.

8. OS voted for his daughter, doing the work of the Lord in a hospital in one of the worst cities of the East Coast. Only a matter of time until some BabyDaddy decides to shoot up the ER, and OS prays daily for the safety of all the souls who work there. She and her husband work full-time, are raising a child, and have no prayer of home ownership in their part of the world. The state in which they live, and cities where they work, have been in the hands of the Democrats for the past fifty years. They will have to leave to have a future.

9. OS voted for his son, a brilliant young artist and scholar. He will need an economy in his lifetime that actually produces wealth in order for the institutions in which he will work to survive. He is also a young man of his own well-formed opinions, and OS sees the darkness close in over the traditions of free speech and thought that used to rule in academia. Academia is eroding quickly, the emperor has noooo clothes, and Academia has been under the control of The Left since the at least the 1960's, and in the case of the Ivy League, well before that. OS's son swims in perilous waters.

10. OS voted for his his extended world of families and friends. A number of his favorite people, near and dear, are naturalized citizens who arrived here legally, and followed every rule. They waited in line, paid the fees, took the exams, contribute to the culture. One student in particular naturalized from a country south of the Rio Grande. He speaks perfect unaccented English. He looks totally Mexican. If there ever is a general backlash by enraged rednecks, this kid is in danger. The immigration crisis is just that, and it endangers everyone, especially those who obey the law.

11. And, OS voted for his extended family. For his wife, who works way too hard for way too little, doing world-class work in a world that is shrinking. For his departed father who drove a landing craft onto a beach in the Pacific in the mid 1940's and saw his friends die around him. Those like him who survived came back wounded in body and soul. For his father-in-law who served in the Korean era, blessedly never saw combat, but learned how to be a doctor to all manner of people in all manner of circumstances thereby, and quietly gave away a fortune in his working years. For the family friends who lost their son to Lyndon Johnson's mad scheme in Vietnam. For OS's grandchildren and nieces and nephews, the kids at his church, the kids of his friends.

The list could stretch on and on. All of these good people, living and departed, deserve a future better than what Hillary and Bill, Barack and Michelle, Huma Abedin, John Podesta, John Kerry, Tim Kaine, Janet Yellen, and all the other assorted criminals and fraudsters offer.

So, that's how OS voted.

Go vote, ya'll, Compile your own list. Take your friends to the polls with you.

It Really Matters: Peter Van Buren Says It Well

OS always thinks of his vast legion of readers, hoping they will glean value from his wise suggestions.

One such suggestion is author Peter Van Buren, whose bio is inserted below. Notice, this gent is no flaming conservative living in his mom's basement playing video games....

Peter Van Buren, a 24-year veteran of the State Department, spent a year in Iraq. Following his book, We Meant Well: How I Helped Lose the Battle for the Hearts and Minds of the Iraqi People, the Department of State began proceedings against him. Through the efforts of the Government Accountability Project and the ACLU, Van Buren instead retired from the State Department on his own terms.

Peter’s commentary has been featured in The New York Times, Reuters, Salon, NPR, Al Jazeera, Huffington Post, The Nation, TomDispatch, Antiwar.com, American Conservative Magazine, Mother Jones, Michael Moore.com, Le Monde, Japan Times, Asia Times, The Guardian (UK), Daily Kos, Middle East Online, Guernica and others. He has appeared on the BBC World Service, NPR’s All Things Considered and Fresh Air, CurrentTV, HuffPo Live, RT, ITV, Britain’s Channel 4 Viewpoint, Dutch Television, CCTV, Voice of America, and more.

Peter Van Buren is pleading with anyone who will hear that Hillary Clinton is a danger to the world.

The article is at the link, for the legion of readers. A few choice quotes, to encourage the faithful along:

The arguments of “everybody does it” and “well, it wasn’t illegal” in regards to the email server, the Clinton Foundation, pay-for-play, donor access, dirty tricks against Sanders, the many well-timed coincidences of Trump revelations, and more, are strawman logic.

Leaving aside the idea that people usually say “everybody does it” and “well, it wasn’t illegal” only when their own candidate gets caught doing something, what was done matters.

It really does.

....

To expose to the world even the appearance of such impropriety is a disgrace. The president has as one of her roles setting the example for the federal workforce. Is the example that as long as it skirts the edge of legality it is fine behavior? If I was a contracts officer in the Social Security Administration and allowed a vendor to donate crazy amounts of money to my spouse’s non-profit as I was considering a contract award, would that too be OK? What about if I was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to make a speech to that organization? What if I would not let anyone know what I said? All OK? Does everyone really do that?

Dear Legions of Readers: Do YOU do that at your place of business or service? Really? Is it OK for your colleagues and supervisors to do that? Really?

OS sent two children to the local elementary school out here in Mayberry, back in the halcyon days of Bill Clinton's regime. The school principal was a kindly gent, let's call him Mr. Lester. He was tall, spoke with a lovely drawl, could name every kid in the school, and in many cases has taught their parents and grandparents. He had taught and mentored several of the teachers in his school, from first grade onward. He was One Of Those Guys, trusted and beloved, and still is.

As the extent of Bill's behavior with and about Miss Lewinsky became known, OS encountered Mr. Lester in the halls of the school, and asked a simple question:

If you behaved toward a student teacher like the President has behaved toward Ms. Lewinsky, what would happen to you?

He chuckled, and in that broad drawl said: Why, they'd put me UNDER the jail!

That was twenty years ago, dear readers. How much ethical sewage has flowed under the historical bridge in the United States since that day?

Vote ya'll. For Trump and down the GOP ticket, ya'll.

And, while you still can, send dollars in The Donald's direction.

Whoodathunk any of us would be at the place where we now find ourselves? What if just a few more senators had voted to impeach Bill back in the day? How many tens of thousands (at least!!) of lives would have been saved around the world?

It matters who wins.

MSNBC interview African Americans in South Carolina: 'Let's Not Be Deceived!'

That young white man with the perfect haircut could not get away from that lady fast enough!!

This lovely, dignified, black woman is NOT drinking the Donna Brazile Kool-Aid. She's married, and very likely an active church member. No drugging, gang-banging, or any of the standard pathologies that the Dems rely upon to keep these good folks on their plantation.

Miss Hillary will not be pleased to see this. Legions of OS readers (you know who you are!!) share this one on!

How the election is attracting illegal immigrants to the U.S--Time For That Wall, Ya'll!

Check out the scene in the bus station in the final :30 or so--the illegals are welcomed in, and given bus tickets to the interior!! The itinerary shown has one gent headed for Maryland...

This is completely out of control. This is an invasion, sponsored by our own government. The aim is to create an intractably chaotic situation, and seize upon the chaos to seize more power.

Lock Her Up!-Project Veritas Connects Hillary Clinton Directly to PACs In Violation of Federal Law

Yew Nork Timez Whiiiiinez About A Hillary Thug Who Was Jailed For Assault Of A Trump Voter At A June Rally.

Can't make this stuff up, folks.

QOTD --from the police who rounded up the thugs--

The police later traced the most violent run-ins to “local gangsters” with long criminal records, according to Sgt. Brian Anderson, who headed the San Jose police team that pored over thousands of hours of videos from the rally.

Farah Stockman, who wrote the essay, ostensibly sympathetic to both the perps and the victims, spreads the moral darkness even further. She gives both equal moral weight--the Trump supporters who were brutalized by Hillary's thugs--citizens exercising their black-ink Constitutional right to peaceably assemble, are really no better or worse than the thugs.

The description of the gent who was attacked, and his family, are simply heartbreaking, maddening even. His family escaped the Communist thugs of Vietnam in the 70's, only to see the son attacked by equally Marxist thugs in California.

The perps? Why, they are just victims of ciiiiiircumstance!!! Why did those meaaaan Pohless people arrest and prosecute them for terrorizing the Trump supporters?

Check out the video here, readers, where the Clinton Campaign muscle describes exactly how they intentionally disrupted rallies--with physical violence.  Then read the Yew Nork Timez essay. They line up, exactly. The violence perpetrated by the perp was scripted.

Not surprisingly, the Timez article is not open for comment.

Connect the dots. And see how the Timez enablers attempt to distract, and explain away, Leninist thuggery. They can't blame it on the Trump supporters, since all the evidence points away from them, and to the Clinton thugs--so it's time to pull out the hankies for the perps.

Don't buy it for a minute. Not a even a second.

The Trump Agenda Announced in Gettysburg

View here for yourself.

The ideas are clear.

The language is simple and unequivocal.

The contrast is stark between The Donald and Miss Hillary, the Democrats and the Establishment Republicans.

The violent disruption of Trump rallies by paid DNC operatives is indisputably documented.

The collusion between the mainstream media and the Clinton machine is indisputably documented.

The choice is clear.

Go vote, ya'll!

Rigging the Election - Video II: Mass Voter Fraud--The Clinton Campaign At Ground Level

This is hard to watch, but it must be done.

Trump is a cad. Hillary is a threat to the nation.

The Suspicions About Vote-Rigging Are Not Paranoid Fantasies--The O'Keefe Videos This Week

This is the stuff of Peronist Argentina, or Mexico in the thrall of the PRI, or early 30's Germany.

This is disgusting, vile, reprehensible...

Donald Trump is ill-mannered. Hillary and the DNC are systematically working to subjugate the nation.

One of these candidates is a clear danger to this nation, and it's not Mr. Trump, with all his faults.

Since We Are Calling Names: Harvard's James Kwak (Lady MacBeth's Enabler) Calls The Donald A Bad Name

Harvard's James Kwak loves to sit in his office, survey the wreckage he and his have wrought for the past forty years, and call people names if they dare disagree.

It's nice work,  if you can get it. You get to call people who actually build businesses and take risks names like Man-Muppet.

Fair enough--OS has read his Shakespeare over the years, and the Bard did create one memorable character to describe Hillary Clinton--Lady MacBeth. Go ahead, hit that link--only about 1:40, and the punch line at the end tells all.

OS wins--both on accuracy and class.

OS never ceases to marvel at the Academic Left: Publishing books such as found on the left side of Kwak's page, and yet advocating for a Lady MacBeth(since we are calling names...) such as The Hillary, who proposes doubling down and accelerating the government/bankster approach that have crushed so much of our culture and economy.

OS also marvels at the sniffing assumptions that 1. Wealth is baaaad, unless it's stowed away in the Harvard endowment and supports People Like Us, and 2. Taxes are goooood, especially imposed upon those who actually go produce, and save, and wish to pass on their life's work to their families.

To quote Kwak, the pundit:
'As I discuss in my latest Atlantic column, income tax is basically optional for the wealthiest families. (So is the estate tax, for the most part.)'

Sniff. All those little little people, working and saving...sending their kids to the (sniff) local state universities or (sniff, sniff) working with their hands!! Eew, gross!

Well, why is it optional for the wealthiest families? Because since WWII, generations of Congresses (usually Democrat majorities, controlling the crafting of tax law) have so ordained.  A lot of that law drafted by Harvard Law grads no doubt, upheld by the Harvard Law Good Ole' Boys Club on the Supreme Court. This foundation, that tax shelter, that offshore account, etc., and let's save our real vitriol for those who actually attempt to start businesses that make stuff, hire people, and sometimes incur losses.

As for inheritance tax: Money is earned, and then the government takes its slice (at every level, from the county to the Feds). Money is saved and invested, and the government takes its slice along the way from that, the most egregious being capital gains tax. The person whose earnings were taxed all along (with the requisite lost investment/interest income, never realized because those dollars were lost to taxes) dies. And here comes the tax man, once again, to confiscate wealth from the family. In the case of agricultural holdings, or capital-intensive small businesses, that could mean a liquidation, if the poor chap dies without the most sophisticated legal eagles at his side (billing him at 300+ hourly, another 'tax' imposed by our system--but a bonanza for the law school grads of your august institution).

Lady Hillary MacBeth (since we are calling names) has spent the past forty years creating chaos, gathering and spending vast sums of Other People's Money, a good deal of it  harvested from taxpayers; and when not engaged in that, busied herself in cleaning up Bill's messes. (She wasn't able to get that blue dress away from one of his bimbos, so she settled on attempting to ruin the kid.) The Man-Muppet Donald, on the other hand, with all his many pecadillos, actually can look at a piece of disused and often unusable real estate and create a golf course, hotel and convention center, or an office building, or renovate an abandoned building into a facility that generates business, and more taxes for people like Lady MacBeth and her minions to spend.

Sniff away all you wish on Harvard Square. Call us deplorables and worse. Go for it. Win or lose, nothing is ever the same after this year. The Man-Muppet is drawing crowds of multiple thousands, filling arenas, with more waiting to get in, while Lady MacBeth gathers a few hundred into high school gyms. Those thousands turning out to cheer the Man-Muppet will not simply melt away -- they are just getting revved up.

We Need ID's For Air Travel, Check Cashing, and SAT Tests--But If A State Insists On ID For Voting---That's Raaaaacist!

Interesting question, indeed.

Now why would Miz Hillary's ardent supporters across the country be trying to game the system, or jam up the gears of the system over Voter ID? One does recall the old motto of the Chicago Democratic political machine: Vote Early, Vote Often! (Wait a minute! Both Obama and Miz Hillary are products of that same machine. How did that happen?)

Remember the 2000 election fiasco? OS suspects the Democrat litigation machine will be in full gear this November 8--a lawsuit for every precinct in every swing state. It's the standard practice: Create chaos and seize power. Because only power matters.

Well, anyhoo--here is what a 17-year-old has to present to take the SAT College Board examination:

The ID Checklist for the SAT is now very specific. It says ID documents must meet all of these requirements:
  • Be a valid (unexpired) photo ID that is government-issued or issued by the school that you currently attend. School IDs from the prior school year are valid through December of the current calendar year. (For example, school IDs from 2015-16 can be used through December 31, 2016.)
  • Be an original document (not photocopied)
  • Bear your full, legal name exactly as it appears on your Admission Ticket, including the order of the names.
  • Bear a recent recognizable photograph that clearly matches both your appearance on test day and the photo on your Admission Ticket.
  • Be in good condition, with clearly legible English language text and a clearly visible photograph.
Hmm....

I Listened To A Trump Supporter--David A Hill

https://extranewsfeed.com/i-listened-to-a-trump-supporter-49a41a9a99de#.7h0hp2r4o

On the journey to somewhere else, OS tripped upon this well-written account. The Ohio woman he describes is, for OS, a composite of so many people in his world. Mr and Mrs OS have been bruised by the events of the past fifteen years, to be sure, but blessedly not shattered like this lady. So many others around us have not been so blessed.

Is The Donald The Answer? Likely not--but at least he's not pretending the problems don't exist. And he knows how to articulate people's anger, and to give them opportunity to bellow it for themselves. Thus the inevitable chants of 'Lock Her Up!'.  Normal Deplorables are completely fed up with a governing class that operates by one set rules while imposing quite another upon them.

The essay is a very good read, and OS urges his legions of followers to read and share with friends.
A few quotes to sample here:

I talked at length with a Trump supporter I grew up around. I wanted to understand. I respected her growing up. I wanted to know why a person as kind and compassionate as I remember her is voting for someone like Donald Trump.

She was a family friend, a good person. In rural Ohio, everything was tight. Money, jobs. If you really needed quick cash, she’d put you to work doing landscaping. She’d pay fairly and reliably for the area.

She’s voting for Donald Trump. I disagree with her choice, but I understand why she rejects Clinton so fiercely, and why she’s been swept up in Donald Trump’s particular brand of right-wing populism. I feel that on the left, it’s increasingly easy to ignore these people, to disregard them, to write them off as racists, bigots, or uneducated. I think that’s a loss for everyone involved, and that sometimes listening can help you to at least understand why a person is making the choices they make, so you can work on the root causes. For her, the root cause isn’t racism. In fact, I remember her as one of the only people in the area who proudly hired black workers, in a place where that was a huge issue. She fought over that choice.

But that’s enough background. Let me relay a bit of what she told me.

She’s a person who built her business from the ground up. She wasn’t rich, but was very comfortable for the area. She had a nice house, a nice car, and was stable. She achieved the American dream of not having to struggle. Things changed during the housing crisis. A landscaping business requires customers who need landscaping, and people who don’t own homes just don’t need landscaping. In some of these neighborhoods, one in five people lost their homes. That almost immediately turns a successful landscaping business into a struggling one.

Then there was a domino effect. She couldn’t pay for her lawn-care equipment leases and loans. That hurt her work efficiency. Then, she lost her car. But that didn’t stop the payments. Then, she lost her house. She slowly had to let go all of her employees, until it was just her, hand-mowing lawns for cash the way you might expect a high school student in the summertime.

She told me that every week, it seemed there was another default letter, another foreclosure, another bank demanding more blood from her dry veins. To her, that pile of default notices and demands for payment looked suspiciously similar to Hillary Clinton’s top donor list.

She lost everything she worked so hard for. Obama swore he was going to help. The Wall Street bailout did seem to help Wall Street. But it did absolutely nothing for her. She turns on the news and sees how the Dow Jones is doing better than ever. But that didn’t bring her house and livelihood back. Liberals insist that Obama’s made her life better. But, now she’s driving a car that falls apart randomly while having to pay those same banks for a car she doesn’t own and never will. It’s difficult to convince someone whose life is objectively worse that their life is better. And it’s disingenuous to try. You can break down the specifics, sure. But when someone’s hungry, and you’re busy silencing their complaints by telling them how well world hunger is improving, you’re just going to upset them.

This is not a person who is stupid or racist. She knows Bush caused the economy collapse with his irresponsible tax policies and wars. But she saw liberals as fighting for the banks’ recovery, to hell with her needs. She sees in Hillary someone who celebrates that approach. Who measures US success by the success of multinational mega corporations?—?corporations who undercut and destroy local businesses. This is a person who grew up in a town with a friendly neighborhood general store, a locally-owned hardware store, farmers’ markets, florists, and auto shops. All of these businesses closed when Walmart moved into town. All their owners now work at that Walmart for a fraction of their previous wages, no benefits, and no hope for something better, something of their own. And now, she sees a free trade supporting former Walmart executive about to come in to office, and it feels like salt in her community’s wounds.

This is a wounded person. Insulting her or continuing to hurt her isn’t going to help. She’s swept up in Trump’s message because she feels someone’s finally listening. Right-wing populism is an awful thing. But desperate people with their backs against the wall will grasp on to whatever they feel will bring a change. Neoliberal capitalism is not sustainable for these people.

Over the past few years, she tried getting back in her business. But a corporation moved in and is operating far cheaper, using undocumented immigrant labor. I should note: She specifically said she doesn’t hold it against the migrant workers. As she said, “They’ve got to take whatever jobs they can get. Just like we do. It’s not their fault. They didn’t choose to make prices so low that legal businesses couldn’t compete.” She was literally a “job creator”. And she wasbeing priced out by the very people Donald Trump insists are pricing her out. That hurts everyone, and it adds an air of authenticity to what he says.

I asked her if she supports Trump’s Mexico wall. She told me, “It doesn’t matter if I do. Hillary wants a wall, too. That wall’s gonna happen.” She wasn’t simply making this up. She’s heard this from many sources, Clinton being one of them. So to her, the idea of a border wall is a non-issue. I pressed her on the issue, and she said she thinks, “It’s a waste of money. If someone wants to cross the border, they’re gonna cross the border.”…

A few times, she seemed ashamed of things Trump’s said or done. I’d ask her to unpack her feelings. She said he sometimes upsets her, but “If you wait and wait for a flawless candidate, you’ll never find one.” She said she’d be much prouder to vote for Trump if he’d tone down his rhetoric.
I talked to her a bit about Bernie Sanders, to see what she thought of him. She told me, “He seemed like a nice enough guy. But I didn’t pay him much mind because there was no way he was gonna beat Clinton.” I talked with her about his platform, his policy proposals. She lit up. She told me, “It’s a real shame he didn’t make it.” She told me that if she knew him, his record, and his proposals, she’d have voted for him. I said that since the primary concluded, Hillary’s shifted some to adopt policies similar to his, and I asked if that changed her mind. She told me, “It doesn’t matter what she says. It matters what she’s done.”

No amount of insulting her from an ivory tower is going to change her mind. No amount of guffawing about her lack of education, her self-deception, her racism, or her internalized misogyny is going to change her mind. The only thing she’ll listen to is a promise of real change to the system that’s hurt her. If the Democratic Party can’t offer her a viable alternative, we’re going to see another neck-and-neck election in 2020, and in 2024, and in 2028.

Three Loud, Rousing, Full-Throated Cheers for Teresa May and Brexit

How many of OS's legions of readers knew that the UK economy is the fifth-largest in the world?

England occupies the same amount of real estate as the US state of Alabama, approximately.

The entirety of the UK (England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland) is about the size of Illinois, and Illinois has much much more arable land, habitable land, and mineral resources in the ground than the UK. Illinois is technically 'landlocked', but since it touches Lake Michigan and several navigable rivers, this is no issue.

Think about this, friends. What is it about these people that has resulted in such a little place creating that much wealth, that much culture, that much progress, that high a standard of living, those great universities, etc. etc. etc.? Break down the individual regions of Wales/Scotland/NI/England and consider impact they have around the world?

What on earth do they need Brussels for? Not much. Actually, given the panic on the Continent (immigration and banks in meltdown come to mind...), Europe needs the Brits!

OS recalls a surreal conversation with a British colleague who recounted the process of getting a few extra houses built in his little village, which really needed them so that families with young children could revitalize a graying community. It was ENDLESS, and culminated in waiting for approval from Brussels!

WHAT?

Help is on the way, says Theresa May.

This UK government is actually declaring it will carry out the clear will of the citizenry as expressed in the Brexit referendum.

...a Britain in which we pass our own laws and govern ourselves. In which we look beyond our continent and to the opportunities in the wider world. In which we win trade agreements with old friends and new partners. In which Britain is always the most passionate, most consistent, most convincing advocate for free trade. In which we play our full part in promoting peace and prosperity around the world.
..We will invoke Article Fifty no later than the end of March next year.
..it is not up to the House of Commons to invoke Article Fifty, and it is not up to the House of Lords. It is up to the Government to trigger Article Fifty and the Government alone.
..Because we voted in the referendum as one United Kingdom, we will negotiate as one United Kingdom, and we will leave the European Union as one United Kingdom. There is no opt-out from Brexit.
..we will soon put before Parliament a Great Repeal Bill, which will remove from the statute book – once and for all – the European Communities Act.
..And its effect will be clear. Our laws will be made not in Brussels but in Westminster. The judges interpreting those laws will sit not in Luxembourg but in courts in this country. The authority of EU law in Britain will end.

 Yes, yes, yes!!

So, what is about Britain that has made it prosper?

With all its faults, and they are many--they have embraced freedom, the dignity of the individual, and sovereignty of borders and laws.

To quote that radio pundit that the Labor goons barred from entry to their shores:

Language. Borders. Culture.

Shout it from the rooftops.

Deplorable Like Me

Some days, the clouds part, the light pours down from Heaven, and the angels sing. These days occur only rarely, and arrive unbidden, unexpected, and OS receives each one with renewed gratitude.

Such has been this weekend, when Miss Hillary announced that she considers OS, and millions like him, deplorable.

It's flattering, really, to think that Herself took the time and energy to deliver such a compliment. Just to be reassured that OS's lifelong embrace of faith, tradition, family, heterosexual normalcy, monogamous marriage between one man and one woman, capitalism, literacy, the rule of law under the Constitution, the use of English for the conducting of the business of the culture, religious tolerance, defined borders and sane immigration policy...the list extends on and on...is the peculiar target of her disdain. It's reassuring to have someone of The Great And Good lend her endorsement.

Let's not forget that detail about the need to point out, gently of course, that Islam and Christianity make diametrically opposed claims about the ultimate nature of deity.

Finding A Moral Voice Against A Present Evil--Trump Takes On The Jihadis

Doug Ross @ Journal: TRUMP FIRES BACK AT JIHAD: The 'Ideology of Death ...: By Joseph Klein Donald Trump delivered a major foreign policy speech Monday in Youngstown, Ohio.

QOTD: “Our system of government, and our American culture,
is the best in the world and will produce the best outcomes for all who
adopt it,” Trump declared. “We will reject bigotry and oppression in all
its forms, and seek a new future built on our common culture and values
as one American people.”

Trump is finding his voice, and has found some good speechwriters.

Here is hoping he stays on point.

Jesse Shares Comforting Words of John Henry Newman

As always, Jesse speaks cogently to a confusing time.

"God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission -- I may never know it in this life but I shall be told it in the next.

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught.

I shall do good, I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments.

Therefore I will trust Him. Whatever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him. If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him.

He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about.

He may take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me -- still He knows what He is about.

We are slow to master the great truth that even now Christ is, as it were, walking among us, and by His hand, or eye, or voice, bidding us to follow Him. We do not understand that His call is a thing that takes place now. We think it took place in the Apostles' days, but we do not believe in it; we do not look for it in our own case.

Let us feel what we really are--sinners attempting great things. Let us simply obey God's will, whatever may come. He can turn all things to our eternal good. Easter day is preceded by the forty days of Lent, to show us that they only who sow in tears shall reap in joy.

The more we do, the more shall we trust in Christ; and that surely is no morose doctrine, that leads us to soothe our selfish restlessness, and forget our fears, in the vision of the Incarnate Son of God.

May the Lord support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done.

Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last.”

John Henry Newman

Historic Milestones for Hillary Clinton 26 July 2016, Goal Achieved and Bodies Left In Her Wake

Well, ya'll, Miss Hillary has gone and dunnit. She shattered that Glass Ceiling, leaving a trail of ruined careers, outright lies, scandals and chaos in her wake. A typical Clinton day at the office. Folks often joke amongst themselves about ambitious types who 'leave a trail of bodies' in their wake.

However, when it comes to the Clintons, it's not a joke. There is a literal trail of bodies, over 3,000 this year alone, left in the wake of Miss Hillary's and Massah Obama's Adventures in Overthrow in Libya and Syria.

Here's the quote, in case the link goes away:

'
More than 3,000 migrants and refugees have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean this year, while nearly 250,000 have made the journey to Europe, the International Organisation for Migration has said.
The new toll was reached following the discovery of 39 bodies washed up on the coast of Libya, bringing the current number of casualties among people attempting to cross the Mediterranean to 3,034 so far in 2016, the organisation said on Tuesday.
The IOM said the 2016 death toll among refugees and migrants trying to reach Europe was "significantly higher compared to last year as of end of July 2015 when 1,917 had lost their lives at sea".

Last time OS checked, the IOM was not a part of the 'Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy' the Clintons trot out when uncomfortable torrents of facts disturb The Narrative...

Oh joy, just imagine what  the world looks like when Miss Hillary is Commander in Chief.  With Bill as her First Spousal Unit (so many interns, so little time...), and all the Obama hangers-on hanging on.

It's great to be Hillary. It sucks to be Libyan.

Marathon Pundit: Chiraq: 2 teens shot, 1 fatally, in drive-by 1/2 m...: Obama mansion in 2008 President Obama and his family won't be returning to Chicago after his term expires for at least a year.

This latest shooting, which claimed the life of one (presumably black) teenager, and wounded another, occurred about one-half mile from the Chicago home of The Wan, the Winner Of The Nobel Peace Prize, The Community Organizer In Chief, our very own Prezzzzzident Obama.

One would think Himself would be eager to return home, to spread his classic magic of peace and love back in his own 'hood, no? After all, since draconian gun laws, like those in Chicago, ensure the safety of the streets, Himself would ergo be residing in the safest of neighborhoods.

Senator Scott Shares Personal Experiences with Law Enforcement Officers ...

This truly deserves careful viewing, and listening. Tim Scott is a staunch conservative from South Carolina, one of his generation's best and brightest. Listen to his accounts of treatment at the hands of American law enforcement, and ponder what the experience of so many must be who do not have the benefit of his education, accomplishments, and demeanor.

Yes, most cops are Good People--but...without accountability, without proper supervision, bullies can arise among them. OS has experienced it first-hand, as a middle-aged white guy dealing with small town cops, in his own small town. The words 'I OWN YOU', snarled by the cop, burned in OS's brain for some months, until the police chief was removed by the State of Tennessee when it was revealed he had hired felons for his police force--not kidding it happened. This sort of thing has happened more than once, and that phrase has been used more than once, and not just in OS's little town. Some cops love that little rush of power...and see their role as generator of revenue and fear amongst the citizenry. Do this often enough, long enough, brutally enough, brazenly enough, and be not shocked when a small town near St. Louis erupts over a shooting, even though forensics proved it justified. It was stupid law enforcement practices that opened the door for the anarchists now parading as reformers.

Tennessee also has a tradition of state police officers serving (with gun and badge) with serious criminal records in their pasts. Pretty scary stuff, and OS deliberately hung the jury in a DUI case long years ago when it became obvious the trooper was lying through his teeth, and the prosecutor was urging him on. The defendant was probably guilty, but the trooper was the most dangerous person in the room.

So--take a few minutes, and think this through with Senator Scott.

And Donald--before you pull the trigger and name Mike Pence as your VP choice....maybe look this guy over one more time?

Geert Wilders: Freedom Spring--People Want Their Country Back--Resist Islamization

There was a time when OS looked a bit askance at Mr. Wilders, thinking perhaps the gent was a bit too extreme.

OS was wrong, dead wrong.

To begin to correct course, OS urges his legions of readers to view this latest message from Mr. Wilders. It is not radical, it is sane, the essence of sanity.

Enuf is enuf is enuf is enuf.

Everyone Stay Calm, Ya'll--And Remember Why Brexit Is The Correct Path Forward

This video from Daniel Hannan, filmed at Oxford Union earlier this year, is an eloquent reminder of what faces the EU -- and the US -- in our present world. Hannan is a solid conservative (lower case 'c') as well as a Tory member of the EU Parliament. This is well worth viewing.

It's fascinating to hear him say the very same things (in his plummy Oxbridge command of English) that The Donald and (to some extent) The Bernie are saying.

Great quotes throughout, and for his command of English and logic.

The Masters of Europe, beginning with Junker and Merkel, are well and goodly enraged by the decision of the British people. They have zero interest in the opinion and wishes of folks on the ground. The Austrians came within a bare whisker of overturning the Establishment politicos, and the French and Spanish are itching to have the opportunity to vote on the question themselves.

Hannan rightly calls the EU a 'cartel', and cartels always lead to poverty and failure, and sometimes war.

So, everybody, stay calm, and stay on course. Ya'll did the right thing, UK cousins, and you will prosper as they stagnate, in every way.

The Opening Prayer of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA Was Addressed To (Wait for it!!)...Allah.

Jeff Foxworthy's famous line is 'Folks, I just can't make this stuff up'.

Well, evidently the leadership of the PCUSA, that staid and rapidly-shrinking denomination, can:

Here is the transcript of the imam's prayer:

“Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path – the path of all the prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Peace be upon them all Amen.
“In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, let us praise the Lord. The creator of the universe, the most merciful, the most compassionate and the Lord of the universe who has created us and made us into nations and tribes, from male and females that we may know each other, not that we might despise each other, or may despise each other. Incline towards peace and justice and trust in God, for the Lord is one that hears and knows everything and the servants of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful, gracious are those who walk in the earth in humility and when bigots and hateful and Islamaphobes address them, they say peace. Peace be upon them and peace be upon Allah.”
And, just in case you think OS is spoofing you--here's the video, published by the PCUSA themselves. The prayer is at the 14-minute mark, but if you wish to warm up a bit to it, you can bask in the early 60's folk-song rendition of 'We Shall Overcome' that serves as the call to worship...

Congratulations British Brethren and Sisters--You Stood Up For Yourselves And Your Children, And For Freedom

OS and The Wonderful Lovely Mrs. OS stayed up late into the evening watching the results from the Brexit vote. We get the BBC News channel on satellite, and those guys were completely flummoxed.

Fox Business did a fine job--they were expecting the vote to go the other way, and had to regroup a bit, which they did with broad grins on their Murdochian faces.

The Sky News coverage, streamed via Drudge, won the night. They were on top of it!

We knew the Remain goose was well and truly cooked when the results arrived from Birmingham (Leave), Wales (Leave), and Cameron's own constituency (Remain, but not that wide a margin). The Leave margins were always wider than the Remain margins, except in places like Cambridge, which live in their own academic/business/banker bubble, immunized from reality.

The next couple of days of market selloff and GBP selloff were to be expected, and may continue. So be it. Equilibrium will return, when it is located. OS and the Mrs are looking forward to some travel to The Green and Pleasant Land while on the strong dollar!

This morning was priceless, when Nigel Farage showed back up in Brussels to give-em-hell.

Ya'll just gotta take a few minutes to enjoy it.

So, congratulations. Don't gloat too long, and be kind to your neighbors who voted the other way. They are genuinely anxious about the future, and your positive attitude and good cheer will help pave the way for them. Remember what it felt like when a vote you passionately believed in didn't go your way, and act with compassion.

Janet Daley Says It Best -- The Elites Are Deeply Out Of Touch -- Time To Tell Cameron And The EU To Go Away

She is dead on.

So is Peter Hitchens in today's Daily Mail.

So why should it matter over on our side of the pond?

Because we do a lot business with the UK. OS knows folks who do business with UK institutions--already the long arm of Brussels is beginning to affect how business gets done, and not for the better.

Because there are soooo many families (including that of OS) that are comprised of both US and UK citizens. We are joined at the hip, and here in the Colonies, we never signed up for control from Brussels. That's why a lot of British cousins moved settled here, this being the land of opportunity.

Because if the UK stays, our security will be compromised, not the least because the immigration floodgates will open from Turkey and beyond. Labour leader Corbyn openly admits this.

Because if Brussels wins, our own elites will feel emboldened to sell us out, with more secret treaties, more backroom deals, more sacrifice of opportunity for ordinary families. OS sees the families around him struggle and struggle just to keep up, to build some sort of future for their children. He sees his younger colleagues, so eager and gifted, entering their careers with such huge ostacles facing them. He sees his own children working diligently, in an uphill battle.

Please, cousins--vote Leave, for the sake of us all.

Lynne Patton "The Trump Family That I Know" - A Black Female Trump Execu...

OS generally does not participate in 'viral sharing'--but for this, he makes the exception. Five credible, moving minutes about the Trump family. It speaks for itself.

OS voted for Trump in the Tennessee primary, seems like an eternity ago. Not out of affection for the man, but because OS took some business trips, and encountered perfect strangers willing to talk about their lives.

Two in particular come to mind--one a young man working in a family business in the Northeast that has been extant since the 1870's, and now struggles against the headwinds of a government, tax system, social decay, and economy brought about over the past 25 years by leadership of BOTH parties. He's thirty, and wonders how they will survive.

The second was a chauffer--hotel to airport, in his 60's, an emigre from Africa from the early 80's. He has spent his career driving limos, and now owns a piece of the firm. Two children, born and raised here. One child graduates MBA from a major East Coast university, the second entering med school at an Ivy League school. He is so proud of them, parented them to be Americans. Sez he: 'Children, it's great you have your African heritage, but THIS is your country. You are Americans!!' A question posed about all the illegal immigration brought a disdainful response--he had gone about things properly, has no respect for the gate-crashers.

OS isn't a Trump 'fan', per se. But only The Donald speaks directly to the heart of the issues that we must face, and speaks for these people encountered on the road.

Last night, the subject came up with friends, who have a child in a military career. The Dad sez, 'You may disagree, but I'm voting for Trump. He's the only one who will value my child's life in the military, and gives us the best odds of the kid coming home to us in one piece.'

Now, take five minutes--decide for yourself.

Logan Officials Message to Clinton Campaign--You've Done Enough Damage, Please Go Away

Kudos to the city fathers of Logan, West Virginia as they pointedly un-invite Mizz Hillary, who wishes to use their town as a photo-op stop on her campaign to create even more havoc than she has already.

OS can see it now: Mizz Hillary arrives with her entourage to kiss babies, shake hands, eat the local grub, and pontificate on the terrrrible state of the local economy, and how she plans to pour all manner of Federal largesse into Logan to FixThisSituation. Of course, leaving out how she and her fellow leftists actually created ThisSituation!

The coal industry, which supplies the raw material that generates most of the nation's electricity, has been gutted by the Obama Administration; and with it, town after town, and family after family.

This account of present life in the region is heart-wrenching, and not in the least untypical of what is quietly happening across the American heartland.

And this before the inevitable spike in electric rates that will occur after the extensive insfrastructure for the mining and shipping of coal is allowed to fall into ruin. Venezuela, anyone? Argentina, anyone?

What has dawned upon the city fathers of Logan is that The Left actually seeks the outcome that has befallen Logan, WV. This, to The Left, is a success!! Businesses destroyed, households dependent upon government largesse, coal mines shut down, abandoned rail lines and stock.

Perhaps, in ways large and small, in one town and neighborhood, we can all in our own way 'dis-invite' all those Friends of Mizzzz Hillary. Logan provides a good beginning, and a noteworthy example to follow.

Big Red Car--The Boss Explains How Trump's Wall Is Funded...and why we should build it, even out of our own pockets

OS urges his legions of readers to check out BRC--loads of wisdom, delivered with gentle wry humor.

This post, in particular, drives home the central points of Trump's ideas: We can secure the border, and the benefits overwhelm the costs. End of story.

OS will copy a bit of it for you to read--for the REAL payoff, you'll have to hit that little link....

Big Red Car here in the ATX on a lovely day. Got a call from Donald Trump, who said, “Big Red Car, you’re handy with numbers, right?” Before he said anything else, I knew he was talking about the WALL.
“Yes, Donald, I am,” says I.
“How would YOU finance the WALL, Big Red Car?”
To which I reply, “Well, Donald, I’d put a little tariff on imports and exports. That’s what I’d do.”
“Will that work, Big Red Car?” asks That Donald.
“Of course, it’ll work, Donald.”
“Thanks, Big Red Car.”
“Best to Melania, Donnie. See you when the WALL is finished.”
[Melania loves the Big Red Car. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!]

Go ahead...hit that link...

Donald Trump Asks The Cogent Question--How

How has 'the system' been working out for you and your family?

From the Wall Street Journal Op-Ed page today--a firm and coherent statement from Mr. Trump.

On Saturday, April 9, Colorado had an “election” without voters. Delegates were chosen on behalf of a presidential nominee, yet the people of Colorado were not able to cast their ballots to say which nominee they preferred.
A planned vote had been canceled. And one million Republicans in Colorado were sidelined.
In recent days, something all too predictable has happened: Politicians furiously defended the system. “These are the rules,” we were told over and over again. If the “rules” can be used to block Coloradans from voting on whether they want better trade deals, or stronger borders, or an end to special-interest vote-buying in Congress—well, that’s just the system and we should embrace it.
Let me ask America a question: How has the “system” been working out for you and your family?
I, for one, am not interested in defending a system that for decades has served the interest of political parties at the expense of the people. Members of the club—the consultants, the pollsters, the politicians, the pundits and the special interests—grow rich and powerful while the American people grow poorer and more isolated.
No one forced anyone to cancel the vote in Colorado. Political insiders made a choice to cancel it. And it was the wrong choice.
Responsible leaders should be shocked by the idea that party officials can simply cancel elections in America if they don’t like what the voters may decide.
The only antidote to decades of ruinous rule by a small handful of elites is a bold infusion of popular will. On every major issue affecting this country, the people are right and the governing elite are wrong. The elites are wrong on taxes, on the size of government, on trade, on immigration, on foreign policy.
Why should we trust the people who have made every wrong decision to substitute their will for America’s will in this presidential election?
Here, I part ways with Sen. Ted Cruz.
Mr. Cruz has toured the country bragging about his voterless victory in Colorado. For a man who styles himself as a warrior against the establishment (you wouldn’t know it from his list of donors and endorsers), you’d think he would be demanding a vote for Coloradans. Instead, Mr. Cruz is celebrating their disenfranchisement.
Likewise, Mr. Cruz loudly boasts every time party insiders disenfranchise voters in a congressional district by appointing delegates who will vote the opposite of the expressed will of the people who live in that district.
That’s because Mr. Cruz has no democratic path to the nomination. He has been mathematically eliminated by the voters.
While I am self-funding, Mr. Cruz rakes in millions from special interests. Yet despite his financial advantage, Mr. Cruz has won only three primaries outside his home state and trails me by two million votes—a gap that will soon explode even wider. Mr. Cruz loses when people actually get to cast ballots. Voter disenfranchisement is not merely part of the Cruz strategy—it is the Cruz strategy.
The great irony of this campaign is that the “Washington cartel” that Mr. Cruz rails against is the very group he is relying upon in his voter-nullification scheme.
My campaign strategy is to win with the voters. Ted Cruz’s campaign strategy is to win despite them.
What we are seeing now is not a proper use of the rules, but a flagrant abuse of the rules. Delegates are supposed to reflect the decisions of voters, but the system is being rigged by party operatives with “double-agent” delegates who reject the decision of voters.
The American people can have no faith in such a system. It must be reformed.
Just as I have said that I will reform our unfair trade, immigration and economic policies that have also been rigged against Americans, so too will I work closely with the chairman of the Republican National Committee and top GOP officials to reform our election policies. Together, we will restore the faith—and the franchise—of the American people.
We must leave no doubt that voters, not donors, choose the nominee.
How have we gotten to the point where politicians defend a rigged delegate-selection process with more passion than they have ever defended America’s borders?
Perhaps it is because politicians care more about securing their private club than about securing their country.
My campaign will, of course, battle for every last delegate. We will work within the system that exists now, while fighting to have it reformed in the future. But we will do it the right way. My campaign will seek maximum transparency, maximum representation and maximum voter participation.
We will run a campaign based on empowering voters, not sidelining them.
Let us take inspiration from patriotic Colorado citizens who have banded together in protest. Let us make Colorado a rallying cry on behalf of all the forgotten people whose desperate pleas have for decades fallen on the deaf ears and closed eyes of our rulers in Washington, D.C.
The political insiders have had their way for a long time. Let 2016 be remembered as the year the American people finally got theirs.

Paris, San Bernadino, Brussels, Lahore (and almost Memphis TN)

One hardly knows what to say, except to say what has already been said.

What we stand to lose if the Jihadis win.

It's a short list, omitting much, but it's a start.

On this Easter Day, drawing to a close here in the beloved South, deepest sympathies to all the victims of the latest outrages.

BTW, a report just in that a gunman was intercepted at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis this morning, two weapons and a backpack full of ammunition. No shots fired, suspect in custody. Thousands attend each service at Bellevue, the ultimate soft target. And since it is mainly attended by whites and conservatives, it wouldn't have come up on the President's radar. Ball games to attend, tangos to dance...

Just Another Day Inside The Beltway--The Decker College Case

One bonehead provides obviously factually inaccurate information to another bonehead within the mis-named Department of Education, and now eleven years of litigation later...

A court finally rules that the boneheads are in fact, boneheads.

Tens of millions of dollars, vaporized, and a business ruined. Hopefully, the plaintiffs recover, and the boneheads are sent to pasture where they can do less harm.

Vain hope, OS knows, at least under the present regime.

This little tale is just one of many, occurring year after year. And the GreatAndGood just can't seem to understand why the voters of all political leanings are simply apoplectic.
