Obama And 'Offshore Drilling': If His Lips Move, He's Prevaricating...
Well, the announcement did light up the news wires and feeds around the world.
One must admit, He and His are experts at letting us believe one thing, when the reality is something else entirely.
It's that inconvenient words have meaning thing! We, poor schlubs, live in a world where words have meaning. We have to, otherwise we starve alone in the dark and cold. In their world words are noises one makes to manipulate the listener on the path to one's true objectives.
But, in a two-fer for April 1, 2010, Heritage Foundation reminds us: If His lips are moving, he's misinforming us.
In fact, if anything, the policies announced by President Obama yesterday will actually decrease and delay future U.S. oil production. The President actually canceled four lease sales off the Alaska coast that were planned to begin producing oil within the next two years, delayed a planned lease off Virginia until at least 2012, and placed some areas off limits for at least seven years. Go back and look at President Obama’s actual announcement again: he only promised new exploration off the Atlantic coast. There is absolutely no guarantee that any new drilling will ever occur. Secretary Ken Salazar’s Interior Department still has full discretion to never allow a single drop of oil to be harvested from these waters. And that doesn’t even begin to address the court challenges the enviro-left will employ to attack and delay the entire process.
And it's not just Heritage Foundation saying it. The essay pulls from a lot of sources, normally sympathetic to Himself, who agree that Himself is blowing smoke.
Sort of like that 'Executive Order' he promised to Bart Stupak, not worth the paper it's written on, and still no word as to whether he got around to signing it, anyway.
Just words....ya'll go back to sleep now, watch another basketball game, another episode of 'The Biggest Loser'. Nothing to bother about here...

Back In The Day(2005), When The Democrats Railed Against The 51-Vote Majority
Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid and the MSM are about put on the full court press to pass a health care takeover that this country clearly does not want.
Is there a need for some fixes to the system? Absolutely.
Is ObamaCare the answer? Absolutely not. And Obama and company know it. That's why they will attempt to ram this huge program through via the parliamentary maneuver known as 'reconciliation'. No amendments can be offered, and minimal debate allowed.
In 2005, when the Republicans were in the majority, some judicial appointments were under consideration. The Republicans contemplated changing the Senate rules to allow approval by simple majority, which by the way is what the Constitution specifies.
The Democrats screamed bloody murder, warning darkly of the 'tyranny of the majority'. Sadly, the GOP leader Bill Frist relented. It was the beginning of the end, as conservative voters decided they had been sold out by both Bush and the GOP.
But, here for your viewing, the protestations of the Democrat Senators in 2005, decrying the very thing they now proclaim as the only way forward.
They may just succeed, but they will blow the country up. OS has come to the conclusion that they just don't care, that the will to power trumps any ethical restraint.

The Really Great Thing About Not Having a Conscience Is...
The line that made Joe Wilson lose his temper, and his better sense of judgment, in BHO's health care speech was the one in which Himself claimed that illegal aliens would not participate in the Brave New Program.
Joe erupted, there was a lot of hand-wringing on all sides, but language was quietly inserted to require that everyone participating prove citizenship or residency eligibility, and provided an enforcement mechanism.
All-in-all, not too bad a thing.
Until today, when BHO announces His Solution: Exclude illegal aliens, yes, but let's make sure that all the illegals are legalized.
Easy-peasy!
This from the Washington Post.
President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
Why, with that done, we can provide in-state college tuition(and the requisite financial aid), liar mortgages, and (ta-da!!) voter registration to them as well.
We'll just securitize those mortgages and student loans, sell them to unsuspecting rubes in Eastern Europe and Indonesia, and if we keep a firm majority in both houses, no one will ever be able to do more than whine about it.
The really great thing about not having a conscience is that you can live completely unmolested by any sense of shame. Words are just noises one makes to accomplish one's aims. No real meaning there, except for the poor fools who hear them and still think they have significance.
We are a long way from recovery. The central banks can print money and pump it to the marketplace forever, and it just won't matter. At the heart of this dilemma lies a profound ethical bankruptcy, located in the souls of those we have allowed to lead us for far too long.

He Lies
Congressman Joe Wilson probably should not have shouted 'He Lies' during Himself's address last night. It was impolite and ill-timed. Not his best moment, but a very human one.
Best to leave that sort of tasteless behavior to the Democrats. You know, like evoking Chappaquidick Teddy's name at the end of a speech, to attempt emotional manipulation from beyond the grave. Like dummying up fake military documents to release two weeks before the 2004 election, and attempting to pass them off as genuine. Like jeering Republican presidents during State of the Union addresses. You know, that sort of stuff...
If a Senator from Massachusetts can abandon a young woman in a wrecked car to die slowly of oxygen deprivation, and still be forgiven and loved, we can perhaps cut MC Joe from South Carolina a wee bit of slack. He's not likely to do anything outrageous again, unlike certain Massachusetts senators were known to do.
'Cuz you see, Joe was right. Himself and the Democrats have no intention of including any means of verification or enforcement to bar illegal immigrants from fully participating in the coming government health care scheme.
The Democrat leadership have one basic difference of world-view from Normal People: Normal People believe that Words convey Meaning. People like the Clintons, Pelosi, Frank, Reid and BHO understand that Words convey whatever they wish them to convey at any given moment. Words are noises produced in order to get one's way in the world, nothing more, nothing less.
Without any enforcement mechanism included in a law, verbiage is just verbiage.
Himself is a lawyer, and knows that. He just counts on the Normal People to not notice.
Joe's a Normal Person, and when the President of The United States told a whopper, Joe lost his temper.
Joe was right.
He Lies.
